Cristiano Ronaldo is a genius - he is the greatest and it's just an honour that we are able to witness him at his best.

I know people say he is slowing down a little but Zinedine Zidane has been looking after him well and I can tell you, he will have an impact tonight - I can bet my life on it.

He sits back for a lot of the game now and conserves his energy for those bursts to blast someone with pace and skill.

Like I said, many people say he is slowing down but he comes alive on nights like tonight.

    Deafening stuff. What a place.

Real expect European Cup number 12 this season. They have stern opponents in front of them. The noisy neighbours from down the road.

I said it about Diego Simeone, so I'll say it about Antoine Griezmann.

Why would you leave Atletico this summer? Especially for a team in the Premier League?

Two Champions League finals and a last-four in the last few years. No English team could touch that.

    That should go down well...

  10. Why aren't Atletico considered a "big team"?published at 19:31 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

It's because they keep selling their best players.

Fernando Torres, Radamel Falcao, Diego Costa and now it looks like Griezmann might be coming to the Premier League - you don't sell your best player when you want to be a big team.

I think moving to the new stadium will be a great move for them - I was there two weeks ago and it is absolutely fantastic - it could be the Bernebeu, it could be the Nou Camp, it could be Old Trafford.

Sometimes you've got to make that move - Arsenal did it when they moved to the Emirates and it's great for the club. It generates more revenue which almost always generates results on the pitch.

Football writer Pete Jenson on BBC 5 live: "The Real Madrid job is a short-term job. Zinedine Zidane is incredibly relaxed. He shrugs his shoulders in the pressers almost to say 'I've scored in the World Cup and Champions League finals and won them'.

"But he knows this is a job you probably don't do for more than three years."

Football writer Pete Jenson on BBC 5 live: "Antoine Griezmann is one of the best players in world. He was a stringy winger at Real Sociedad when he joined Atletico but now he's one of the most complete strikers in the world. He can do the lot. Diego Simeone can take a lot of credit for that."

I often think that the Champions League semi-finals are better games than the final.

For me as a player, these were best games over two legs. Often, the final can be a bit of an anti-climax because it's hard to play your best football with so much at stake.

I think it could be a great game but I personally think Atletico have got to score two away goals tonight to try and get through.

  18. Win the cup and lose the manager?published at 19:18 British Summer Time 2 May 2017

Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid (19:45 BST)

More from European football guru Pete Jenson: "There's one theory that if Atletico win it this year, that's the perfect time for Simeone to go and nobody would blame him.

"But anything other than that, if he leaves as they're moving to a new ground, he probably wouldn't do that. So there's more chance of him leaving if they do win it."
