  1. Dealing with a Royal losspublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 29 May 2017

Reading have had two chances to reach the Premier League via the play-offs, they have lost both.

In fact, they have have never won a play-off final in their history. But it is even more painful to come so agonisingly close to the top flight.

The suffering began with a 4-3 loss against Bolton Wanderers in 1995, a game which is particularly gutting considering they had led 2-0.

"We expected to win, and we should have won," Ron Grant, the Royals kit-man from 1992-2009 told BBC Radio Berkshire.

"Everything was tinged with an element of sadness, because we had lost such a big game."

Then came 2011. Reading were 3-0 down at half time to Brendan Rodgers' Swansea. Despite a spirited comeback, they lost 4-2.

"For the neutral it was probably one of the best play-off finals of all time," says Matt Mills, the Royals captain that day.

"Losing that game was probably the lowest point in my career."

Now, they have a third chance to turn heartbreak to ecstasy, the question is, will they take it?

But in a move Jose Mourinho would have been proud of, the England under-21 international is hoping to focus the attention on Huddersfield, who, despite finishing below The Royals in the table, are widely seen as favourites.

"The pressure wasn't on us from the start of the play-offs", said Swift, "and I don't think we were expected to be here, so I don't think the pressure is on."
