Leroy Sane tries to twist his way between two Bournemouth players as he weaves into the area, eventually tumbling to the ground over Harry Arter's outstretched boot. Penalty? Neil Swarbrick says no.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 45+2 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Man City

Another change for Bournemouth just before half-time. Jack Wilshere, who took a bad knock to his ankle when blocking a David Silva shot, has to go off. He's replaced by Benik Afobe.

That's three players lost to injuries in the first half.

Brilliant skill from David Silva. Expertly bringing a high ball down before turning in one sweeping move and then feeding Kevin de Bruyne, who shoots just wide from distance. Even Bournemouth fans are applauding Silva for that bit of skill.

The 45 mintues are up and there will be five minutes of time added on.

One of the most entertaining games of football I've watched this season. Both teams looking free flowing in attack and a bit dodgy in defence.

That shot just now aside, Raheem Sterling has been in fine form tonight. That goal was his sixth of the season, equalling his tally for the previous campaign.

Bournemouth have a corner now which Harry Arter plays short to Ryan Fraser, who loops a cross towards the far post but he puts too much on it and it lands behind the goal.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Man City

"Come on Bournemouth, come on Bournemouth", chant the home fans. They are right behind their side, who are having to withstand a bit of Manchester City pressure in the shape of successive corners, the second of which ends with Raheem Sterling launching a speculative effort high and wide.

Sergio Aguero had very little time to warm up before coming on and he shows signs of rustiness as he volleys well over from close range. His blushes are spared by the offside flag.

Steve Cook has played every minute of every league game for Bournemouth this season - and leads the Premier League in clearances made this season., external But he was cruelly out of luck for the opening goal as his attempted clearance skewed the ball into the path of Raheem Sterling.

The home crowd, spurred on by what they see as a sense of injustice over one or two decisions by the officials - notably the disallowed goal - are trying to play their part, roaring the Cherries on every time they break forward.

Theo Bowyer: Hawk eyes from Swarbrick there... one of the few in the ground who saw the shirt pull. Chapeau

Daniel Woodley: In a day and age where referees get criticised constantly you have to applaud that decision. Absolutely top class officiating!

Pep Guardiola, wisely sporting a bobble hat now to protect his head from the cold, barks some instructions at Yaya Toure but as he does so a ball over the City defence almost catches them out but Willy Caballero snatches it from the tip of Joshua King's toe.

Big save by Artur Boruc to deny David Silva adding a second for Manchester City.

After a slow start this is a great game. Chances at both ends.

It is a good spot. Bournemouth will feel aggrieved but the referee has got that bang on.

  14. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 30 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Man City

An immediate reply from Bournemouth! Or is it?

Joshua King sweeps home from close range as Bournemouth attack from the restart. He wheels away celebrating but it's ruled out. The referee awards City a free-kick after spotting King pulling John Stones' shirt. Great spot!

Manchester City are electric in the wide areas.

Leroy Sane got it wide, he drives at Adam Smith and the unfortunate deflection feeds it into Raheem Sterling's path. He is not going to miss from there, the easiest of finishes.

    What a start for City.

    Raheem Sterling

This time Raheem Sterling cannot be denied as Manchester City grab the breakthrough.

City break quick down the left through Leroy Sane and his cross deflects off Steve Cooks' boot and Sterling is on hand to tap home at the far post.

It is a feisty game, what we want to see.

It is going to be a good battle between Charlie Daniels and Raheem Sterling, the City man looks to have his mojo back with his driving runs.

If City do not win here today, the fans will see it as a missed opportunity.

Not only do City's centre-backs stay deep to receive the ball from goalkeeper Willy Caballero when the visitors are in possession at the back, their wide players - full-backs and wingers - noticeably head out to hug the touchlines whenever that happens - that's the Pep way.

However, it is in those wide areas that Bournemouth have looked at their brightest - Jordon Ibe going close earlier, while Bacary Sagna will have his hands full if Ryan Fraser runs at him. He may be the smallest player in the Premier League, but "Wee Man" Fraser absolutely terrorised Hector Bellerin - one of the quickest full-backs in the league - when Arsenal drew here last month.

  19. CLOSE!published at 27 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Man City

Suddenly Manchester City roar back into life as they pepper Bournemouth's goal with a succession of shots. First, Leroy Sane sends his marker sliding off the pitch on the left and plays the ball to an unmarked Raheem Sterling. The forward shoots but his effort is deflected onto the post before Kevin de Bruyne's follow up is blocked.

City are not done yet as Yaya Toure bends an effort just wide of the far post from the edge of the area.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 24 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Man City

Bournemouth are hunting City players down in packs as Yaya Toure is closed down and forced into giving up possession. The hosts quickly attack but Jack Wilshere's shot is blocked and then Ryan Fraser is then booked as he brings down Kevin de Bruyne as City break.
