  1. CLOSE!published at 20 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Bournemouth

What a pass by Michael Carrick. The United midfielder is at his supreme best as he sends Anthony Martial on his way but Artur Boruc is down to make another great save.

Jose Mourinho will be delighted with this start. Luke Shaw and Carrick are playing well but Bournemouth are still on level terms.

It's been a helter-skelter start. United are playing some delightful stuff but have been thwarted by Artur Boruc.

First serious chance for Zlatan Ibrahimovic but he puts it tamely behind inside a crowded goalmouth.

Harry Arter is the first player to be booked after a late tackle on Michael Carrick in the middle.

  3. 'Too easy'published at 13 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Bournemouth

Here's that Paul Pogba chance in graphical form. Bournemouth were carved apart by Luke Shaw's long pass, but the £90m man could not beat Artur Boruc.

Too easy for the home side - worryingly for Eddie Howe.

    Man Utd 0-0 Bournemouth

This isn't going to stay 0-0 for long - mistakes all over the pitch.

A huge mistake by Tyrone Mings gives Rooney a great chance but he squares to Ibrahimovic who can't get his shot away.

Bournemouth counter and Benik Afobe is clean through but slips just as he is rounding David de Gea.

    Terrific entertainment.

Early illness news is that Eddie Howe started in the dug out but has wandered into the technical area to have a word with assistant Jason Tindall, who is observing proceedings from there.

Jose Mourinho has ditched the black coat he usually wears. Today's colour is grey.

Bournemouth haven't settled and they're actually lucky to still be on level terms.

Luke Shaw will be feeling a whole lot better and his superb pass sends Paul Pogba clean through but Artur Boruc is down to save well.

Wayne Rooney misses an easy header. He had so much time. This does not bode well for Bournemouth.

No sign of a hangover after Wembley? Encouraging start by United as Wayne Rooney heads over the bar from Antonio Valencia's cross.

Luke Shaw returns to the Manchester United starting line-up for the first time since 29 October.

Ironically, that 0-0 draw against Burnley was the last time Jose Mourinho's team finished a round of Premier League matches not in sixth spot.

They have remained there for four months but that will change today if United win as Liverpool and Arsenal, the two sides immediately above them, feature in the tea-time game at Anfield.

Five minutes to kick-off. How's Luke Shaw feeling? Big pressure on the defender to deliver. This is his first Premier League start since 29 October.

By the way this is Wayne Rooney's 550th United appearance.

    Here come the teams...

  14. On the move?published at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2017

Man Utd v Bournemouth 12:30 GMT)

    Manchester United

It sounds a nightmare...stuck in one place for 138 days without moving (unless it's a beach in the Bahamas).

That's how long Manchester United have occupied sixth spot in the Premier League table this season. Today, it could all change.

Beat Bournemouth and United are moving up into fourth...and a Champions League play-off round qualifying spot.

What is it about this game?

Certainly, not quite as dramatic as last season's evacuation but Bournemouth turning up without their manager for today's encounter with Manchester United was still unusual.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe travelled north with his squad last night but was ill in the night.

He is expected at the game though - and, according to a spokesman, in the dug-out.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is scary. Forget the ability he has, the aura he has got, to knock out game after game no matter where they are travelling, whatever competition, at 35 is phenomenal.

The physique on him shows how he has looked after himself. He is a leader. I watched him line up for the final last week and you could see it in his eyes.
