Tadic has definitely got a case there for a penalty.

    It is a difficult one.

    Tottenham 2-0 Southampton

Spurs lead at the break, although Southampton feel they should have had a penalty right at the end there.

Good, direct running from Nathan Redmond and he wins a free kick on Southampton's left.

James Ward-Prowse has the chance to whip it in, but instead chooses to go short and Spurs scramble clear.

That's at least until Cedric Soares fancies his chances from around 35 yards, but Hugo Lloris punches it away.

    Now here's a stat...

Only in one previous Premier League season have Spurs seen 3+ players score a penalty for them. 1993-94: Sheringham (4), Barmby (1), Hazard (1) & Gray (1).

    Cheers, Opta.

Nb. For you younger lot, that's of course Micky, not Eden Hazard. The Chelsea star would have been all of two years old...

    Tottenham 2-0 Southampton

Southampton's loss was most definitely Tottenham's gain when Victor Wanyama opted to move to the Lane last summer.

He breaks up play twice in quick succession and that sets Spurs on the front foot.

Christian Eriksen tries to clip one through a host of Saints defenders, but it just runs away from Son Heung-min.

Tottenham could do without racking up any more bookings, though.

Kyle Walker makes his way into the referee's notebook for a foul on Ryan Bertrand inside the Southampton box.

    Tottenham 2-0 Southampton

So Tottenham, without really hitting top gear, find themselves two goals to the good against a Southampton side who have now lost their top striker.

Harry Kane who? Not quite. But this Spurs team do look to have goals in them from elsewhere in the side, unlike earlier in the season when they lost their top scorer.

It was such clever movement from Tottenham.

Alli reaches for the ball and Davis caught him late. It was a bit scruffy but contact was made.

Southampton looked to be getting back into this one, but one lofted ball into the box and they're all over the shop.

Arms and legs everywhere like Dancing on Ice, and eventually Steven Davis chops down Dele Alli.

He makes no mistake from the spot, sending Fraser Forster the wrong way.

    Tottenham 1-0 Southampton

    That's a shame for Saints.

Manolo Gabbiadini looks to have injured himself with that effort and is replaced by Shane Long.

That's also a blow to my dream team.

In a flash Gabbiadini gets his foot around the ball and hits the side netting.

You cannot switch off for a moment with Gabbiadini. He is an intelligent player.

    Tottenham 1-0 Southampton

Well, Southampton always have a chance of getting back into this game when Manolo Gabbiadini is sniffing around.

He collects Nathan Redmond's low ball on the edge of the box and curls one into the side netting with his left foot.

Seconds later and Redmond finds Dusan Tadic with a cutback, White Hart Lane holds its breath, but the midfielder blazes well over from the edge of the six yard box.

    Much better from the visitors.

Second booking of the game. Nathan Redmond was on the receiving end of a tackle that saw Eric Dier booked early on, but now it's the Southampton man dishing out the punishment.

He drags Victor Wanyama in for a cuddle, but there's no love there. Redmond just knew he was stopping a Spurs counter attack.

Dele Alli sets the tone to get the ball back. It is a very hungry Tottenham team.

At 1-0 up they could go flat but the youth in team doesn't allow that to happen.

    Tottenham 1-0 Southampton

Every time the ball drops to Christian Eriksen around the box the Spurs fans are urging him to pull the trigger.

The Denmark international sees his effort blocked, but he picks out Toby Alderweireld from the corner and the Spurs defender is only denied a goal against his former club by a great save Fraser Forster.

A big, left hand from the Saints stopper to keep out Alderweireld's downward header.

    Tottenham 1-0 Southampton

Southampton change approach and opt to look for the pace of Nathan Redmond over the top.

He's well marshaled by Eric Dier, who nods back to keeper Hugo Lloris.

Spurs by no means comfortable, Redmond looking the most dangerous for Southampton.
