Vieira151: Lets hope this Watford substitution isn't much of a Success tonight...

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 71 mins

    Watford 0-1 Liverpool

Ten minutes ago I would have said there was no chance of a Watford comeback. Now, there definitely is. The Liverpool stranglehold on possession is being loosened and the Hornets are threatening when they do have it.

They find Troy Deeney at the back post in space - but he's incorrectly flagged offside. Watford bring on Isaac Success as well.

Dominating his 18-yard box is something that Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has really improved upon. It is something that I noticed when I saw him earlier in the season.

I think he has been excellent since he has come back into the team.

Simon Mignolet then comes and takes two crosses with authority. Has he improved since winning his battle with Loris Karius? Can't recall any clangers of late.

It looked like Mignolet definitely got a touch. Mignolet's reaction showed he expected a corner too.

And I've just seen the replay - it would have gone in. I'm not sure how the referee missed that.

Much, much better from Watford. They work the ball patiently out wide and when the cross is nodded out, Nordin Amrabat has a shot blocked, it comes to Etienne Capoue, he has another, even better dig, and it's tipped over at full stretch by Simon Mignolet.

Goal kick given, Capoue booked for protesting. Harsh all round.

The only thing better than a screamer is a screamer from an unlikely player, in my opinion. Centre-halves usually.

As a West Ham fan, the goal that springs to mind is Anton Ferdinand's roundhouse volley into the top corner vs Fulham. I think it took 3 replays before we'd actually believe he was the player who'd hit it.

Liverpool still utterly dominant in terms of possession and territory. They need a second goal to be able to relax though. Give it to Emre Can.

Sorry Tom! I was just surprised, you don't seem to be reaching your normal very high standards. Don't take offence though, please.

So far Watford have been really disappointing. At the moment it is a very poor display by them. The way they are playing, I don't see them getting another point this season.

We all know the owners are not scared to make a change even if they have success.

I wasn't really sure what Troy Deeney meant when he accused his team-mates of 'playing like they were on Fifa' last time out. Depends how good you are at Fifa doesn't it?

They are playing like me on Fifa at the moment though. Not sure of the controls, and keep overhitting crosses.

    Watford 0-1 Liverpool

Good play again, Liverpool are a freer, more confident side since the Emre Can miracle. They work it down the channel, Divock Origi lets fly and it's more Bank Holiday work for Heurelho Gomes.

I wonder if Troy Deeney is lined up for another in-house dressing down? Not much fight from Watford since they went behind.

Possession is all for Liverpool now, Watford can't get a touch. The visitors almost work Adam Lallana into the box but the final pass is overhit.

A second Liverpool goal is certainly on the cards now. Divock Origi takes aim from 25 yards, a good dipping effort and another fairly routine save from Heurelho Gomes. From the corner it's nodded down but no man in red reads it.

    How good is Can?

Can is very unlucky to be referred to as "an unlikely player" to score that kind of goal. His technical ability is superb and he's only 23. Improving game-by-game.

It's a tricky angle, wide on the left, but James Milner goes for goal, hitting one straight at Heurelho Gomes who can push it clear.

    Watford 0-1 Liverpool

Watford need to find a way to get their front two into the game if they are to mount a comeback, but straight from the off it's Liverpool on the attack. Seb Prodl is in the book for a rudimentary challenge.
