Thanks for joining me tonight and joining in the debate for what was actually a pretty dull game of attack v defence football with one major talking point...

Not much has really changed in the battle for the Champions League places. City and United pick up a point each, having played another game each now.

They remain fourth and fifth respectively.

There have only been seven longer unbeaten runs within a single top-flight season than Manchester United's 24, with the record being Arsenal’s unbeaten season of 2003-04 (38 games).

Alan, Seaton: In defence of Fellaini, if he had heatbutted Aguero, he would not have been able to continue. Aguero has been very clever. Whatever way you look at it it's cheating, but no-one has the guts to call it. Football is embarrassing itself.

Chris the Red: Fellaini thinks he was sent off for because of who he is. I agree. He's an idiot...

  9. 'We are going down in terms of the number of players'published at 22:36 British Summer Time 27 April 2017

And the last bit of Jose Mourinho's BBC Sport interview...

"Why is Paul Pogba injured – because he played two hours against Anderlecht and two days later had to play at Burnley. We have unlucky injuries and big injuries in knees but also injuries that are a consequence of fatigue.

"We will fight until the end – today we lost two more players – Timothy Fosu-Mensah had an important injury in the last action of the game and Fellani is suspended.

"We are going down in terms of the number of players. It is very difficult for us but the character is amazing and I’m very proud of the boys."

  10. 'Fellaini says with another player it wouldn't be red'published at 22:35 British Summer Time 27 April 2017

More from United boss Jose Mourinho: "Marouane Fellaini is frustrated. He says that with another player it would probably not be a red card.

"He says that Sergio Aguero was intelligent the way he reacted but the only thing I know is that we had to play almost 15 minutes with a tired team.

"But we got the best character out of the players and what can be an important point at the end."

  11. 'We had the game under control'published at 22:33 British Summer Time 27 April 2017

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been talking to BBC Sport after the game.

"Of course with so many problems, with so many injuries, with so many matches there is incredible fatigue.

"The boys gave absolutely everything. The first half was what we wanted – we controlled totally and quite easily defensively and had the game under control.

"In the second half we could not have the beginnings of a counter attack – we were losing the ball too early."

This was United’s lowest amount of possession in a Premier League game since Opta started recording that data in 2003-04. They had 30.8% of the ball.

  13. 'Every game is a final now'published at 22:31 British Summer Time 27 April 2017

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola speaking to BBC Sport: "We cannot forget which team we were against tonight. They created two clear chances and I am satisfied. I know how difficult it is to play against Manchester United.

"Every game until the last game now will be a final.

"We have the talent but it's not easy with so many players behind the ball.

"We all have tough games coming up now and we know it's not an option to not win these games. Every game is important."

Oumesh Sauba: the good thing about Fellaini seeing red is he won't be missed for the two or three or even more games

Luke: LVG sat wondering how on earth he was sacked. Half the budget and got better results. JM running out of excuses for mediocrity

Less Wiggin: Masterclass from Man Utd. Top two goal scorers out. Three central defenders injured. great performance.

  16. 'A bit of a red card and a bit of a very smart Argentinian player'published at 22:27 British Summer Time 27 April 2017

United boss Jose Mourinho to Sky Sports on Marouane Fellaini's red card for headbutting Sergio Aguero: "I didn't watch the Fellaini incident on TV but I spoke with Fellaini.

"He thinks it was a red card because he is Fellaini. I spoke to Martin [Atkinson, referee] - he thinks it was a red card.

"I can guess it's a bit of a red card and a bit of a very smart, very experienced Argentinian player."

  17. 'We had to make a decision to play for the draw'published at 22:24 British Summer Time 27 April 2017

    Manchester United

United boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to Sky Sports: "We wanted to do more in terms of attacking and to explore more of the counter attack. In the first half we had good control but the second became more difficult.

"We had to make a decision to play for the draw and had to fight hard to take a point.

"They started strong, pushed hard and I promised not to speak about players who weren't playing so I won't but we just didn't have the quality of players in midfield - we were missing quality there.

"In the first half, we were always dangerous and there were points where our movement could have been the start of something important but we lost too many balls."

  19. Southgate makes the right decisionpublished at 22:22 British Summer Time 27 April 2017

You might remember we told you England boss Gareth Southgate was at the rugby league and not at the Etihad today.

He probably made the right call.

Lowly Huddersfield Giants produced a shock 31-12 Super League victory away to Leeds Rhinos, who missed the chance to go top of the table.

Marcus Rashford only got 28 touches of the ball anyway.

We will bring you what Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola have said soon.

United boss Mourinho claims he didn't see Marouane Fellaini's red card incident but says the Belgian thinks he was sent off because of who is he.

City's Guardiola says he has "no regrets" and expected United to play the way they did.
