  2. The league is not closed - Contepublished at 18:56 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte speaking to Match of the Day: "Manchester United deserved to win because they showed more desire, more motivation, more ambition to win this game.

"This league is not closed. Tottenham are on great form and playing with great enthusiasm, but we are playing a great season and we must try to reach this target.

"We started as underdogs and it won't be easy."

  3. Tottenham's run-inpublished at 18:53 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

Here's who Spurs must face over the next five weeks...

    Crystal Palace (a)

    Arsenal (h)

    West Ham (a)

    Manchester United (h)

    Leicester (a)

    Hull City (a)

  4. Postpublished at 18:51 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

Spurs face a much tougher run-in (on paper at least).

Four of their remaining six matches are away, including a trip to reigning champions Leicester.

And their final two games at the Lane are against Arsenal and Manchester United. Big.

  5. Chelsea's run-inpublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

Four of Chelsea's remaining six fixtures are at Stamford Bridge, where they have won 13 and lost two of their 15 matches this season.

    Southampton (h)

    Everton (a)

    Middlesbrough (h)

    West Brom (a)

    Watford (h)

    Sunderland (h)

  6. Race for the line?published at 18:47 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

So the title race is finally alive and kicking! We think.

Although Chelsea are still firmly in control. Five wins from their six remaining games will see them home.

And the Blues only face one other side in the top six during the run-in...

  7. Referee wasn't good for us - Contepublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

More from Antonio Conte: "Marcus Alonso has a virus, he tried to play but it was impossible for him. When you arrive in this stadium you know what can happen."

On a possible handball by Ander Herrera in the build up to United's second goal: "Last game against Bournemouth we conceded a goal in a same situation, against Palace a clear handball, against Stoke a penalty with great doubt. This is not important.

"It is important to find the right solution, but the decision of the referee wasn't good for us. We were unlucky."

  8. Postpublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

Chelsea actually shaded possession over the 90 minutes, after hogging the ball in the final 20 minutes. By then it was too late.

A more damning statistic is they did not manage a single shot on target, while United scored twice from their three attempts at goal.

  9. The fault is mine - Contepublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte on Sky Sports: "They deserved to win, because they showed more desire than us, more motivation.

"In this case, the fault is the coach. It is mine. In this case I wasn't able to do the right motivation.

"To play this type of game from now and until the end we must have great enthusiasm, great motivation to try to reach the target.

"This for us is a fantastic target.

"I have concern because we have to work together and find quickly the right ambition to win this title - if someone thinks it's normal for Chelsea to win the title, we started as underdogs after 10th place last season.

"Tottenham is in good form and playing with enthusiasm, we must find the same."

  10. Postpublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

The mood of Antonio Conte, understandably, is darker than the gloomy Salford skies.

The Chelsea manager says the defeat was "the coach's fault". Admirable.

  11. 'I don't feel extra joy'published at 18:30 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho speaking to Match of the Day: "Chelsea are the best counter attacking team in the country and we controlled them very well. I'm really happy with the boys. I’m happy - not because it’s Chelsea, it’s because we need these three points.

"I don’t feel extra joy at beating Chelsea - we beat the leader. It doesn’t matter if the leader is Chelsea or another - we beat them convincingly. Nobody can doubt our credit to win the game."

  12. 'If we win our games, it doesn't matter what Spurs do'published at 18:28 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, speaking to BBC Sport: "I think the defeat is down to a combination of things. United were more aggressive, they won second balls and probably wanted it more.

"They got a great start and then went on from there. We need to be better going forward.

"We have a lot of matchwinners, it was not just a case of Eden Hazard being man marked and taken out the game. We weren't at it today but we have a lot of character and can bounce back.

"We have a four-point advantage and at the start of the season we would have taken it at this stage.

"If we win our games it doesn't matter what Spurs do."

  14. 'We chose the best team'published at 18:20 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho on Sky Sports: "Maybe we didn't 'rest' players ahead of Thursday, we just chose the team we thought was the best team.

"We went to Stamford Bridge in the cup with same tactics, the game was totally controlled with 11 players, only the decision that made us play with 10 men for the second half and 10 minutes in the first half, gave Chelsea a chance to be dominant.

"We knew that playing this way would be very difficult for them.

"Marcus Rashford played fantastically well. He had a very good game at Stamford Bridge in the cup, exactly the same chance to score, because he is faster than their defenders.

"Today he scored and it gave the team more confidence, more stability."

  15. Rashford does the Wright stuffpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

It was not just those inside Old Trafford who handed Marcus Rashford a standing ovation...

  16. 'It took a lot of discipline'published at 18:17 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

    Manchester United

Manchester United goalscorer Marcus Rashford on Sky Sports: "Today took a lot of discipline to carry out the game plan and actions.

"It's not so much stepping up to the plate in Ibrahimovic's absence, everyone is together and we grafted to put the work in to get the result.

"It was a clever pass from Herrera, we made eye contact and he put the ball exactly where I want it. It's something we need in this team."

  17. 'It was not handball'published at 18:15 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera on his handball in the build-up to Marcus Rashford's opener: "I didn't want to touch the ball with the hand. I was running with my hand next to my body. If your hand is in a natural position it is not a handball."

  18. Postpublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Man Utd 2-0 Chelsea

Jose Mourinho is happy, we think. He doesn't look it, or sound it, but he must be.

The Manchester United boss reckons he doesn't feel any extra satisfaction by beating old club Chelsea. Hmmm.

Stay tuned for his full quotes...

  19. 'It was almost perfect'published at 18:11 British Summer Time 16 April 2017

    Manchester United

Manchester United's Ander Herrera on Sky Sports: "There are always some things to improve, but it was almost perfect. They didn't have any chances.

"I have been looking for a goal for a long time. Today I was a bit lucky, but I think we deserved this."
