Germany lead Australia 2-1 at half-time in their opening game in the Confederations Cup but the world champions should be out of sight in Sochi, Russia.

Borussia Monchengladbach's Lars Stindl put Germany ahead before Celtic's Tom Rogic equalised against the run of play.

Julian Draxler beat Brighton's new club record signing Mathew Ryan from the penalty spot to restore Germany's lead after Leon Goretzka was bundled over by QPR's Massimo Luongo.

Germany have dominated play - Julian Brandt twice going close along with Sandro Wagner.

England had one shot on target in their opening game against Sweden. Got to do better than that today - much much better.

It sounds like a decent atmosphere in Kielce already - it's not the biggest crowd but those in attendance are making plenty of volume.

    It is also very hot.

    Group C round-up

England may not have scored any yet but there's been some fine goals at the Under-21 European Championships so far, none more so than Lorenzo Pellegrini's strike for Italy.

The Sassuolo midfielder scored a sensational overhead kick in his side's 2-0 win over Denmark.

Italy level on three points with Group C leaders Germany, who beat the Czech Republic 2-0.

Serge Gnabry, who recently joined Bayern Munich following his release by Arsenal, scored his side's second after Max Meyler gave them the lead.

England manager Aidy Boothroyd on Sky Sports: "We need an extra man in midfield to try and control the game, that's the plan. They are unchanged so we know what they are going to be.

"Nathan Redmond should give Tammy Abraham more support up front. You have to win your group so we have to win this one.

"A draw is no good. We are relaxed, we need to enjoy the game."

Kate Lynham: As a Bristol City fan, whoever gets Tammy Abraham's signature is a lucky lucky club. He kept us up this year, a superb talent!
