    Comms

We have got off to a really good start, the first 10 minutes were excellent, but we are just starting to let them get a bit of a foothold on the game. We are a little bit too quick in the way we are trying to get passes off. We need to keep Poland moving, keep dragging them around and then spaces will open up for us.

Jordan Pickford's distribution is really impressive, it has to be said. The goal came from him pinging a ball into the chest of Ben Chilwell some 60+ yards downfield and can find either wing with his left foot.

Pickford to Lukaku could be a route one masterclass next season (if Everton can hang on to their striker...)

A very good opening 15 minutes for England. But a reminder that the fact that Slovakia are ahead in the other game means that they can't afford to let Poland back into the game.

Kyle: Brilliant finish from Gray. He is a cracking player and if he adds goals to his game then he has a great future.

This England side could be a frustrating foe for Poland now, they keep the ball for a long, long time before winning a throw on the right-hand side.

It is interesting that the ball, when it goes out of play, is being given back quickly to the Poland players but not so quickly for England. That is something England need to be switched on to - that when Poland have a throw it will come back in very quickly.

Aidy Boothroyd has had a good 50 minutes or so when it comes to decisions in matches. He brought on Jacob Murphy at half-time on Monday and he set up a goal, and now he brings in Demarai Gray and he scores the opener.

His celebration on the sideline was top drawer too. Passionate man.

A good response from Poland, who get clear on the right and pull back a cross into the middle but it's well charged down by three white shirts.

The Poland fans have certainly not been silenced by that early England goal. Still making a right din.

    Slovakia U21 1-0 Sweden U21

Martin Chrien, who scored against England, has headed Slovakia into an early lead.

As it stands England are going through, but they can't afford a draw if there is a winner in that match. No time to sit back.

What a great finish. Great ball out from Pickford as well. He played it out to Chilwell, unbelievable first touch and after that it was all about Gray. That caps off a good start and now we have to stay on the front foot.

    What a start!

Ben Chilwell finds his Leicester team-mate on the edge of the D and Demarai Gray opens up his body and fires in a shot, it takes a deflection off the head of Jaroslaw Jach and flies into the net.

    England's bright start is rewarded.

A confident start by England. They are playing out from Pickford, getting a lot of touches of the ball and this might just silence the Poland fans.

That is a chance! England's third corner in a row is won by Alfie Mawson, bang in the middle of goal, seven yards out, and he heads wide.

That was a great corner just then, something clever, something they have been working on and made the goalkeeper make a save.

I have to say Poland have not come out like I expected them to do. They have allowed England to pass it out from the goalkeeper.

Well played John Swift, he carried the ball 35 yards from the centre-circle to the edge of the box, before playing it out wide and winning a corner. England have looked a threat from corners all week, and they play it short, James Ward-Prowse then floats a cross to the far post which the keeper has to push over.

Lewis Baker then has an effort blocked from the second corner.

    Good start.

Alfie Mawson clobbers Krzysztof Piatek in the back, an early marker. England's two centre-halves were outstanding in the second half of Monday's win.

  18. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    England U21 0-0 Poland U21

As good an atmosphere, an occasion as you could wish for at this level. The Polish version of 'sing when you're winning' rains down from the stands.

Away we go! England in white home kit tonight.

    England U21 v Poland U21 (19:45 BST)

England will secure first place and a semi-final spot with victory.

A draw would also guarantee progress if Slovakia and Sweden share the points in tonight's other game.

Though bottom, Poland would advance if they beat England by two goals or more and Slovakia v Sweden ended in a draw.

This is the perfect atmosphere. This is something these players will want to deal with. The first thing they will want to do is start the game well and quell the crowd, quell the home fans enthusiasm.
