For Scotland, things look rather more difficult... But qualification is still possible!

They must win by at least two goals against Spain, and hope Portugal lose.

Any other scenario sends the Scots home.

  5. Could England still go out?published at 19:11 British Summer Time 27 July 2017

Put simply, England are almost in to the quarter-finals.

The Lionesses would go through with a win, a draw or even a one or two-goal defeat.

But if England lose by three goals or more, they will be out if Spain beat Scotland.

However, if England lose 2-0 and Spain win, England would be at worst second, ahead of Portugal on overall goal difference.

So with six teams already through to the last eight, all that's left to decide is who goes through from Group D.

As you can see from the table above, as it stands, England are three points clear at the top and looking set to reach the quarter-finals.

But things look less positive for Scotland, although Anna Signeul's side can still go through.

There is still a scenario where three teams could finish on six points, plus another scenario where three teams could all finish on three points.

So what does each team need to avoid going home? Let's run you through it.

England head coach Mark Sampson is wary of a side who have two former Women's Super League players in their ranks - Amanda Da Costa, previously of Liverpool, and Ana Borges, who used to play for Chelsea.

"This is a nation that found a way to win the men’s European Championship finals last summer having won only one game – very sadly for me (a Welshman) – over 90 minutes," he said.

"This is the opportunity for Portugal women, at their first European Championship, to qualify for the knockout rounds. We know they’ll be incredibly motivated, but so are we, and we want to put in a better performance than we have done so far."
