Benjamin Mendy had put in at least five good crosses from the left and he got a deserved assist when Leroy Sane touched in the fourth goal.

I would suggest it's unwise to make many conclusions from this scoreline - the game changed completely with that first-half red card for Sadio Mane.

Although they have a decent sized squad, defensively, I am not sure Liverpool will be able to handle the amount of football they have to play this season.

Emre Can was outstanding in the win against Arsenal. He's had a bit of a mare this afternoon, especially since moving back into defence. He's now booked for hooking down Sergio Aguero. Send for Kevin de Bruyne - a rubbish free-kick though.

This has been a memorable day in many ways for Manchester City against opponents they have not enjoyed the best of results against in the past.

Indeed, even after today they have still only scored four or more against Liverpool on nine occasions and not at all since 1937.

Amazingly, the first time they did it - in 1906 - they lost, by 5 goals to four. Must have been an epic.

Charlie Smith: The biggest 'defensive issue' Liverpool are playing away at Man City with 10 men. Stop overreacting everyone.

Khan Karn: Klopp should have brought on sturridge at 2-0. Still the best striker by miles at the club. Poor decision.

I know they have had a man sent off but defensively Liverpool have been poor. The three goals from City have been easy.

Liverpool haven't had a shot since the 31st minute. And remember that the first half was 54 minutes long or so.

Something happened! A good save is what as Benjamin Mendy's low cross to the near post is sliced on goal by Joel Matip, it's flying in for an own goal but Simon Mignolet reacts well to push it out.

A forgotten man returns. Eliaquim Mangala comes on for Manchester City, his first appearance since May 2016. He replaces Nicolas Otamendi.

Lovely football now from Manchester City. They are really relaxed now, they have managed the game really well today. It could easily have been a sloppy second half with Liverpool down to ten men, and they could have taken their foot off the gas but they really upped the tempo at the right time.

The talking point of this game will continue to be the sending off of Sadio Mane in the first half. By the letter of the law Liverpool would seem to have no leg to stand on in terms of an appeal but I wonder if they might anyway. Jurgen Klopp was incensed at the time.

Dominic Solanke is on for Liverpool to give Roberto Firmino a break.
