The referee is letting a few things go at the minute and you just hope that's going to be a consistent thing throughout the day.

  5. CLOSE!published at 15:07 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Everton 0-0 Tottenham

Very encouraging stuff from Everton at the moment. Wayne Rooney certainly looks up for this one and he plays a beautifully weighted ball for Cuco Martina to chase. The Everton man gets to the ball first and delivers a low cross for Sandro Ramírez but he stabs his first time effort just wide.

  6. goal

GOAL - Arsenal 1-0 Bournemouthpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Danny Welbeck (6 mins)

This is not a criticism, but has Danny Welbeck ever scored a goal exactly the way he intended? He bundles a fair few of his goals in, and here's another.

Great play down the left from Sead Kolasinac, and his cross is headed in by Welback via his chest/shoulder. They all count.

    Brighton 0-0 West Brom

Brighton have managed just six shots on goal all season so Seagulls fans will probably have to be patient for some excitement at the Amex today. No chances of note yet for either side.

    Leicester 0-0 Chelsea

Alvaro Morata's first involvement of the day sees the striker cut inside on to his right foot and send a shot in on goal from 20 yards which is bang down the middle. Bright start.

Harry Kane is on 99 goals for Tottenham. Now we're not in August, you can bet your bottom dollars he will score today.

    Everton 0-0 Tottenham

Wayne Rooney made his Everton debut in this fixture back in 2002... and he is a whisker away from an early chance on goal as a Gylfi Sigurdsson's cross sails just over his head.

    Decent start by the Toffees.

  13. 'Liverpool got Liverpooled'published at 14:59 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool

    Dion Dublin
Former Leicester & Man Utd forward on Final Score

Liverpool got Liverpooled in the way City played. City were so strong in the final third and made the correct decision every time.

They made it look so easy.

The laws of the game say Mane has to go. I would have gone for it and suffered the consequences. He went for it.

He had his eye on the ball the whole time but he has to go.

  14. 'The result is awful'published at 14:58 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp speaking on Radio 5 live: "What can you do? It was a bad afternoon for us. Some things we were responsible for and some things we weren't.

"The worst place to go down to 10 men is probably in Manchester - against both teams maybe.

"You can do better with 10 against City maybe. The result is awful for us and for City it was fantastic.

  16. Barkley needs to take sideways steppublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Everton v Tottenham (15:00 BST)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

There was a contract on the table for Ross Barkley to sign and he turned it down so Ronald Koeman had to go out and replace him. Now he has a list of players in front of him. Things will get better for him the moment he leaves.

Him not playing devalues him. If he hasn't played for six months it will take £10-15m off his value. He may have to take a sideways step now to get minutes under his belt and then move up to another big club. Sigurdsson has done it after leaving Tottenham. It can be done.

  17. 'This has not been good for Van Dijk's reputation'published at 14:57 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Southampton v Watford (15:00 GMT)

    Trevor Sinclair
Ex-England winger on BBC Final Score

I don't like a player trying to force a move. If you don't want to be there, you can go and hand in a transfer request in.

At some stage, Virgil van Dijk will have to be honest with himself and with the club. I would like to see him play again but this whole situation has not been good for his reputation.

  18. Postpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Everton v Tottenham (15:00 GMT)

    Dion Dublin
Former Leicester & Man Utd forward on Final Score

Goodison is a great place to play football on a Saturday afternoon. I think this will be the toughest game Spurs will have had for a while.

The crowd will get behind the team and behind Wayne Rooney. I think you will see a captain's performance from him today.

Brighton v West Brom (15:00 BST)

    John Southall

There's still a good buzz around the Amex but I think it's fair to say there's also a big dose of realism after the first three games.

Brighton are still after that first win and goal in the top flight in 34 years, they'll find this West Brom side very difficult to break down and another West Brom 1-0 win wouldn't surprise you.
