    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on BT Sport: "I was not there in the last six or seven years when Liverpool were not involved in the competition. This is the most special club competition in Europe, you have to perform to get results and get the best place in the group. We are ready.

"It is an art to get results after big victories or defeats. No-one has found the right formula yet.

"If I spoke only about the Manchester City defeat the last four games, then that would not have been right. In life, if you get a knock you have to get up and respond. You have to do your best again, that is the plan tonight.

"We have had enough rest from the last game, some people would say we had a rest IN the game.

"Philippe Coutinho is ready, that is why he is on the bench."

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino: "It was good for confidence to beat Everton and now we are focused on the Champions League again - the best competition in the world.

"Serge Aurier, he will take it step-by-step and he is still learning how to play in this team. But he has plenty of experience of big games with a big club.

    "Dortmund have a fantastic squad."

    Good atmosphere tonight, surely?

You look at the front three for Dortmund with Kagawa in behind. They have speed. This Tottenham back three will have to defend well because the Dortmund front three are one of the best in Europe.

I went out to a Dortmund Champions League game last season and while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a hat-trick it was US teenager Christian Pulisic who stole the show.

He was absolutely brilliant on the night.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino hands a debut to right-back Serge Aurier, who replaces Kieran Trippier in the starting XI. Dele Alli is suspended so Son Heung-min comes in to the team. Mousa Dembele is the other change from the side that won 3-0 at Everton. He replaces Moussa Sissoko.

Tottenham: Lloris, Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Son, Kane.

Borussia Dortmund are in the middle of an injury crisis, which has deprived them of the likes of Marco Reus, Raphael Guerreiro, Andre Schurrle, Julian Weigl and club captain Marcel Schmelzer. There is still plenty of talent in the team, though. Nuri Sahin and Shinji Kagawa play in midfield, while the forward line is made up of Ukraine international Andriy Yarmolenko, American Christian Pulisic and Gabon's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Mario Gotze is on the bench.

Dortmund: Burki, Piszczek, Sokratis, Toprak, Toljan, Sahin, Dahoud, Kagawa, Aubameyang, Yarmolenko, Pulisic.

Feyenoord v Manchester City (19:45 BST)

Manchester City have named just one change from the team that beat Liverpool 5-0 on Saturday, with Bernardo Silva replacing Danilo. Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson starts for City, despite going off injured and needing eight stitches to his face after that clash with Sadio Mane.

Former Middlesbrough and Liverpool 'keeper Brad Jones is between the sticks for Feyenoord. Two other names you may also recognise - Karim El Ahmadi, who spent a couple of years at Aston Villa, and former Watford winger Nordin Amrabat.

Man City: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Mendy, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Silva (c), Jesus, Aguero

Feyenoord: Jones, St.Juste, Botteghin, Van der Heijden, Nelom, Amrabat, El Ahmadi, Vilhena, Boetius, Kramer, Berghuis.

Dortmund are unbeaten this season, with a German Cup win over Rielasingen-Arlen and two wins and a draw in the Bundesliga.

They have plenty of absentees - with Neven Subotic falling ill on Tuesday. Captain Marcel Schmelzer (ankle ligaments) and fellow defender Marc Bartra (groin) have not travelled to London.

Also out are Julian Weigl (ankle), Andre Schurrle (thigh), Sebastian Rode (knock) and Erik Durm (hip). Raphael Guerreiro is recovering from a foot operation, and Marco Reus from knee surgery.

"Our long-term injuries are well-known and we have some short-term ones as well," Dortmund manager Peter Bosz said.

"Subotic is sick. Maybe he will come but he is not with the group."

    Subotic is on the bench.

Uefa have put the livery in Liverpool. The famous branding is back at Anfield as the Mersey men prepare to play in the group stages for only the second time in eight years.

It used to be an automatic assumption that Liverpool would be part of football's greatest club competition. And now that they are back there's real desire to make an impact.

The American owners FSG will have factored in the requirement for a Champions League run when they turned down all that money for Philippe Coutinho. Now it's up to Klopp to iron out the inconsistencies and deliver. With away games next against Spartak Moscow and Maribor a positive start is important if not imperative.
