  1. Postpublished at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

    Chelsea 0-0 Atletico Madrid

A third effort of note already for Alvaro Morata against the side from his hometown! This time he shoots very early indeed from wide left and Jan Oblak has to push it over.

  2. Kicking every ballpublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

Watching Diego Simeone at close quarters is an interesting experience.

The Atletico coach never stops. If he is not issuing instructions or bemoaning some ill fortune he is moving backwards and forwards as if he was moving for the ball.

He tells players where to pass it and where to move to.

Basically, I think he would prefer to be playing.

  3. CLOSE!published at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

    Chelsea 0-0 Atletico Madrid

Good from Chelsea and from Alvaro Morata again. Victor Moses takes on his man on the right and gets into the area, he cuts the ball back low and Morata stretches to toe poke a shot in which is well repelled in the end by Jan Oblak.

  4. CLOSE!published at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

    Manchester United 0-0 CSKA Moscow

So close. Luke Shaw, keen to impress and doing well so far, surges forward from left wing back and gets on the end of Paul Pogba's perfectly-weighted pass.

Shaw slides a low cross across the face of goal, but Marcus Rashford, at the back post, can not get a crucial touch and we remain goalless.

    Chelsea 0-0 Atletico Madrid

Plenty of possession for Atleti but they do lack something up front. Diego Costa?

Antoine Griezmann is dropping off and linking play well but it's not sticking once it goes in to Fernando Torres at the moment.

  6. What a lovely volley from Shawpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

    Ally McCoist

Great piece of action there and a great piece of goalkeeping from Igor Akinfeev.

What a lovely volley from Luke Shaw but it just came behind Lukaku.

The way Moscow have set up at the back has left gaps for Shaw and Valencia.

  7. Postpublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

    Manchester United 0-0 CSKA Moscow

Romelu Lukaku, with only one goal in his last 12 club games, looks to create some space on the edge of the penalty area, he jinks past two players but is eventually crowded out.

Moments later another chance falls to the Belgian after Igor Akinfeev parried Luke Shaw's volley following Antonio Valencia's cross.

But again Lukaku is denied and frustrated by some smart defending from the visitors, with his volley, under pressure, at Akinfeev.

Dave W: Come on Rashford - no point having blistering speed if you can't shoot. Pace gets you in space so you just get to miss more chances .

Mike Sizzy: Martial would have buried that, Rashford is second to Martial and that’s that

  9. CLOSE!published at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

    Chelsea 0-0 Atletico Madrid

Quality. Top quality from Alvaro Morata! He gets the ball to feet with his back to goal, turns his defender in a lovely movement and then uses the red shirt as a shield, bending a shot around him. It looks in, Jan Oblak hasn't moved, but the shot curls just wide.

    Best moment yet for Chelsea.

  10. Juventus leadpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

    Olympiakos 0-1 Juventus

Juventus have a vital goal in their away game at Olympiakos and it has come from former Chelsea man Juan Cuadrado, who has put the Italians 1-0 ahead after good work from Alex Sandro.

That will be enough to take Juventus through, along with Group D winners Barcelona, who have already qualified, if it stays that way for the rest of the match.

  11. Rooney returnspublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

    Manchester United 0-0 CSKA Moscow

There's a familiar face in the stands at Old Trafford - former captain Wayne Rooney is watching on, alongside ex-team-mate Michael Carrick.

Former CSKA manager Leonid Slutsky, who recently left Hull, is also at the match.

    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG

Despite that goal, PSG are still on course to win the group. Bayern have to win by four goals if they want top spot.

I don't think any Premier League sides will want to draw either of these two in the last 16. None of the five Premier League teams will be able to play each other at that stage by the way.

They’re tidy on the ball Moscow.

United are sitting off them a bit and they don’t want to give them encouragement to play.

Shaw is showing excellent pace down the left hand side, though.

  14. GOOD SAVE!published at 14 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 CSKA Moscow

Manchester United are having a lot of possession so far and hit the post early on through Marcus Rashford. And the England man has just had another chance, forcing a smart one-handed save low down from Igor Akinfeev to push the ball away from danger.

Not much action on the field since that early Fernando Torres shot. Alvaro Morata is hacked down by Jose Gimenez, free-kick in a good spot.

The Belgians have come flying out of the traps here. They’re knocking the ball around with real purpose and look very capable going forward. Celtic still to settle

That's what happens when you haven’t scored in nine games.

It was a lovely reverse ball from Lukaku.

The timing of Rashford's run was great, everything about the move was perfect apart from the finish.

  18. Two agitated managerspublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

    Chelsea 0-0 Atletico Madrid

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Stamford Bridge

If the opening minutes are anything to go by, there is going to be a lot of energy expended on the touchline tonight.

Antonio Conte and Diego Simeone are not coaches who sit back and let their players get on with it.

Both are virtually constant presences by the side of the pitch.

There is only about half a yard between the touchline and the edge of their technical areas but they advance the extra distance anyway.

    Benfica 0-1 Basel

We have already had a goal in the other Group A match as Mohamed Elyounoussi heads in from Michael Lang's cross to put Basel 1-0 ahead away at Benfica.

It is terrible news for CSKA Moscow as they have a worse head-to-head record than Basel, so they will be heading out if it stays the same in Portugal, even if they win, unless, of course, they can beat Manchester United by a seven-goal margin.
