This is like a lot of Newcastle's away performances last season. Happy to concede possession but ending the game with more chances than the hosts and last year usually a win!

Poor from Renato Sanches, really poor. Swansea look to counter and he has plenty of space ahead of him and Jordan Ayew streaming into space on the right. He needs to play the ball quickly but doesn't and ends up losing the ball. A loud groan from the stands.

Will we get a better chance than that?

Christian Atsu is on for Newcastle in place of Jacob Murphy but his first involvement is a poor low cross which is easily cut out.

  4. SITTER!published at 62 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Newcastle

That's brilliant defending, but Tammy Abraham should score! The clearest chance of the day as the Chelsea loanee is played onside, he skips around Rob Elliot and thinks it's a goal, but Magpies captain Jamaal Lascelles somehow slides back to block it on the line!

The ball hits his ribcage and then his arm - but there was no penalty appeal from the men in white.

Approaching the hour mark at the Liberty. Still in search of the breakthrough. Must be nearly Wilfried Bony o'clock.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 56 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Newcastle

Better from Swansea as they keep the ball inside the Newcastle area for an extended spell of time. Jordan Ayew is able to lift the ball into the run of Tom Carroll, and his left-footed volley is sneaking in at the near post until Rob Elliot palms it away. Superb stop.

Ayoze Perez spins out of a challenge on the edge of the area but fires over as Newcastle continue to push on. They've been brighter since the break. We have only had one shot on target all game from the hosts, while Newcastle have registered four.

You would imagine Matt Ritchie's head-high lunge at Alfie Mawson will be discussed on Match of the Day 2 tonight, alongside Sadio Mane's similar effort against Ederson yesterday.

Luckily for Ritchie, there didn't seem to be much contact, if any at all, and he was only booked, in contrast to Mane's red.

Is this the man to make the difference this afternoon. Wilfried Bony was the business in his first spell at the Swans. I still can't believe he is going to wear the number two this season though. Unforgivable squad number behaviour.

On Swansea 0-0 Newcastle (at half-time)

Swansea have had a lot more possession, Newcastle had a couple of good chances but in the main Swansea have been on the attack. You can see Renato Sanches is a quality player but a lot of sideways and backwards passing.

    On Burnley 1-0 Crystal Palace

It was a brilliant effort from Crystal Palace. I know (chairman) Steve Parish is not that guy to panic. Palace could not do much more, Scott Dann had a great chance and Christian Benteke was one-on-one.

What is good is the reaction from the players. After losing three games, to perform like that was a brilliant performance. They created a lot of chances and confidence will come from that.

You can hear Ian Wright and Kelly Cates on 6-0-6 on BBC Radio 5 live after the Swansea v Newcastle match.

    Steve Claridge

That was almost the same as we had yesterday (when Liverpool's Sadio Mane was sent off against Manchester City.)

You can see Matt Ritchie thinking he is going to get sent off. The only difference is he didn't catch Alfie Mawson. If he had caught him he may have been sent off.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 48 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Newcastle

A very topical challenge as Matt Ritchie goes in very high and Alfie Mawson heads it clear. It's not too different to the Sadio Mane incident, but Ritchie is only shown a yellow.

    Discuss.

Kyle Naughon loses his footing and in desperation stretches out to clip Jesus Gamez around the ankles. In the book he goes. More tempo in the early stages from Newcastle.

Newcastle straight into action as Jacob Murphy skips into the area, but his cross is well dealt with and Mikel Merino can't connect with a pass once the ball comes clear.

It took half an hour before it warmed up.

Newcastle are happy to come here and not get beat and it is a new system for Swansea and they are lacking width, but it was good in the last 15 minutes and hopefully there is more to come in the second half.

Renato Sanches looks like a player who has not played a lot of games and someone who just arrived on Friday. He has to get used to the Premier League, do some defending and do some work without the ball. It has not been the best debut I've ever seen.
