Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin speaking to Sky Sports: "We had a few chances before they scored the second goal and it's frustrating as it's come from a mistake.

"We wanted to find the aggression we had lacked in the last few games. We showed that but you know you get punished for mistakes.

"If we had pulled back to 1-1 it would have been a different game.

"We have to take the positives. Our show on Thursday was horrendous. The way we passed the ball and the aggression, we were late to everything. It was a case today that we were fighting for the shirt and that's what we did for the most part.

"No one wants to lose 4-0 but we found our aggression again."

Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan tells Sky Sports: "It was a very hard and tough game, we did not think it would be 4-0 but Everton gave us spaces behind the defensive line.

"We wanted to win the game and were not thinking about drawing. We knew Everton would come with big pressure so we would get spaces. We waited for our chances.

"The first goal was amazing, a great shot and finish. That goal gave us more confidence and tranquility.

"It does not matter if you win on 1-0, 3-0, 4-0, or 2-1, as long as we win."

More from Ronald Koeman: "It wasn't about ambition, it was about confidence. I tried to shout to them, especially the full-backs, to take a higher position but that's what's in the head of players after a tough period. It's hard for a manager. When the whistle starts it's all about them. We started too afraid.

"They showed us today how clinical you need to be.

"After today we have four home games and we have to win, otherwise we'll have problems."

Everton

Everton manager Ronald Koemanon Sky Sports: "Sometimes you get more than you deserve. We made a big mistake at 1-0 and after that it was over. From what I saw today from the team it made me happy. More happy than Thursday.

"We grew in the game and in confidence and not many teams will get two big chances like we got today. We didn't score the goal and after a personal mistake it was 2-0."

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho: "We started really well and in the first 30 minutes were really impressive where we were playing probably our best football since the beginning of the season.

"Everton had a reaction in the second half, we lost a little bit of control. We recovered that.

"We brought some consistency to the game and then I felt we could go with the counter, with Martial for the last minutes for a result that was too much, too heavy for them, they don't deserve to go with this result."

On Antonio Valencia's goal: "An amazing goal, but I think the performance was good even in the difficult moments. The team was consistent, solid, showed solidarity.

"I am really pleased. I think 4-0 is too heavy for them, too heavy for the effort they brought to the game."

Dan Martins: Fancy United and City to both win next week too. City - Chelsea will be tasty.

David Howell: Everton 2017 arguably the textbook example of multiple mid-range signings not making up for one huge one. Star quality matters.

More from Jose Mourinho: "They did not have much but had a couple of chances. I remembered Swansea last season with Gylfi Sigurdsson, they scored through a free-kick towards the last minutes and it ended 1-1.

"Everton are going to be fine but they are living a difficult moment. The fixtures they have got, I would not like this all together at the same time. I would like one of the top five, but all of them, that is not fair for them.

"The penalty-taker today was Juan Mata, but he was out so I let the players take the decision. It is nice for Anthony Marital, fine for me, no problem."

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho tells Sky Sports: "I think the performance was very good, especially in the first 30-35 minute, it was probably our best performance of the season.

"We pressed them and they did not have a chance to get out, they did not have a shot, it was very impressive. After that, Everton's good players came out and showed their qualities. They gave us difficulty but I looked behind me on the bench and saw alternatives.

"The Premier League now is becoming very trendy with five at the back, so the best way to play against that is to play five at the back yourself. When you try not to match the tactical system of the opponent, you take risks. So we played with three up top plus Henrikh Mkhitaryan. You have to kill the game and give them little chances. There was a moment were I felt we did not kill it so we have to make it solid with Ander Herrera. The second goal went in, then game over."

Everton, meanwhile are in the bottom three. Their -8 goal difference is matched only by Crystal Palace - and Palace haven't managed to score yet. The 10 goals they have conceded is the joint-worst in the league, alongside West Ham.
