Romelu Lukaku gets us under way. Ball straight out of play in the Everton left-back position. They are attacking the goal to the right as we look on.

Pretty big cheer when Rooney's name is announced, but not as large as those given to every United player.

Out of that familiar corner tunnel at Old Trafford, greeted by Fred the Red. One fan has a banner saluting Rooney, who is applauding all sections of the ground. Handshakes down the line. The sun is poking through, too.

The players are in the tunnel. Everton boss Ronald Koeman is shaking some hands. Wayne Rooney gets a big cuddle from Jose Mourinho and a handshake from pretty much every United player. Morgan Schneiderlin gets his share of love to.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill: "It is frustrating, a good, competitive London derby. There wasn't much in the game, played in the right manner.

"We had a lot of possession in the first half and tried to create but it felt frustrating. They defended well, we couldn't open them up.

"I didn't see the red card properly but David Luiz thought he was fouled beforehand. We have responded well to losing on the opening day and got some strong results. We take the point and we move on."

  6. 'We have great respect for officials'published at 15:51 British Summer Time 17 September 2017

    Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte: "It was a good, open game with both teams trying to win.

"Every game against Arsenal is always very tough, we knew very well what type of game to face. Both teams are great teams, it's a good draw.

"David Luiz, you know very well that I don't like to comment about the referee. I don't do it in the past, or the present. You need to see what happened before the tackle.

"We have great respect for officials, but it is strange to finish a third game in a row against Arsenal with 10 men."

Wayne Rooney has just received a great reception from the Manchester United fans in the Stretford End after finishing his warm-up for Everton and heading down the tunnel.

I cannot imagine those same fans applauding Rooney if he scores at the same end later this afternoon - but I have been wrong before!

Everton, in blue, go through some sprints from the byline, led by Wayne Rooney and Phil Jagielka. Between Jagielka and Gylfi Sigurdsson, there's a decent amount of hair product on show. Don't let either of them stand near a naked flame.

Not many seats taken inside OT just yet. When I was on my way to work, I found myself behind a coach of United fans that had come from Surrey. Insert joke about United fans not being from Manchester here. It smashed it down in Manchester a couple of hours ago, but there's quite a lot of blue sky knocking around now.

Everton have lost their best player Romelu Lukaku, two goals in four games is not good enough for them.

They spent £152m but they did not get goals. They need to address that in January but Everton will be mid-table. With the start that they have had, Ronald Koeman will demand more in effort and energy from the player.

The way they got beaten by Atalanta was really poor.

Everton fans can expect a lot more. Manchester United and Manchester City have spent an absolute fortune but not been able to dominate for a number of years.

Ronald Koeman is really honest in his assessment of things. He did that after the Atalanta defeats.

The fans will be baffled by what they are seeing. They would have been so excited before the season but they have gone backwards. He has brought very similar players and lost the bite and pace. I am sure he cannot wait to get Yannick Bolasie back.

Clubs are calling out for a position to be filled and still do not go out and get it. Apparently they put all their eggs in one basket to get Olivier Giroud from Arsenal and then did not get him.

We'll keep an eye on the rest of the reaction from Stamford Bridge, but our focus is about to shift to Old Trafford, where Manchester United are limbering up in some pretty garish black and red tops. Marouane Fellaini, in the United side for the injured Paul Pogba, is dishing out a frightful beating to a piece of chewing gum.

  14. 'We could have won it'published at 15:34 British Summer Time 17 September 2017

    Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "It was about mentality and a response from our last away game. We could have won it. It was an intense game.

"The battle was total. We are not in a transfer period and on the day we played Liverpool that affected us. We are all human beings.

"If you play 55 games a season you can have a bad performance.

"But we were focused and determined. We tried to play when we had the ball and we were close to winning the game. With a bit more freedom we would have won the game.

"David Luiz, it looked excessive force to me, at what level did he catch Kolasinac? I don't know."

    Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey on Sky Sports: "We needed that against a top team. In recent years we have struggled here but we are able to compete against the best. We showed that we can create chances and on another day we my have nicked that.

"We needed that after the Liverpool game. We played in their half, higher up. We wanted to get a result and we got one.

"We are in a good place, we just have to build on it."

Chelsea have had as many reds in their last five Premier League games as they had in their 73 games combined beforehand (three).

Eden Hazard is then whistled for a foul on halfway. The Chelsea fans are fuming. Sead Kolasinac is booked.
