Nacho Monreal keeps Petr Cech on his toes with a tackle/backpass which thumps at the keeper at neck height, Cech does really well to chest it down and clear. Monreal's intervention was needed as Alvaro Morata had manhandled Shkodran Mustafi far too easily.

It was an incredible miss. Aaron Ramsey made a brilliant run into the box but Lacazette must be four yards out from an open goal and he hits it over.

    How has that stayed out?!

Aaron Ramsey runs into the area, cuts past both Cesar Azpilicueta and David Luiz and improvises a scooped toe-poke which thumps against the post, before Alexandre Lacazette puts the rebound over the top!

He had an open goal. It came to him at an awkward height but he should surely score there!

Yep, if you're just dialling in Danny Welbeck probably should have scored, Pedro definitely should have scored.

I think Chelsea had the better opening but Arsenal have grown in belief as the first half has gone on.

It's the story of two missed chances though.

Alvaro Morata shows his aerial prowess again, at the other end this time to clear a dangerous Arsenal free-kick.

Victor Moses then misses his kick and Laurent Koscielny has a half sight of goal - but shanks his shot way over.

Man Utd v Everton (16:00 BST)

    Jonathan Overend

It was always going to happen.

Manchester United emphasise how happy they are with their summer signing, trumpeting it from the front page of the programme.

The fact Romelu Lukaku's facing his former club? Purely coincidental of course.

It's a day of players facing old clubs and William Gallas - a stalwart for both of these two, and Tottenham - is in the stands.

The fact I'm telling you that tells you that the game has fallen into a bit of a lull after that flurry of half chances.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger - jacket off as he stands on the touchline - has been holding regular dialogue with the officials near his technical area. Fair to say he has not been happy with quite a few decisions.

Wenger will be pretty satisfied with Arsenal's performances so far, though.

Close! Granit Xhaka takes aim from about 25 yards and hits it really cleanly. That's got a lovely trajectory but ends up a few yards wide, bouncing away off the advertising boards.

Chelsea have got another striker - a good one too. We just don't know where he is do we?

Sho Rahman: Still early but Arsenal working much harder off the ball today than in previous big games. Better shape.

Dave Parker: Who said Chelsea don't have strength in depth? Looks like a pretty strong bench, although another striker wouldn't go amiss.

Two shots on target each, and they should definitely have scored at least one each you'd feel. It's been a promising first quarter.

Both sides have had big chances. Welbeck should have buried his header. He didn't make the keeper work.

Pedro got through one-on-one but had no conviction with his finish.

  16. CLOSE!published at 23 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Arsenal

Good game this! Pedro is the latest to feel that he should have opened the scoring. Cesc Fabregas finds him with a beauty of a through ball, the Arsenal defence didn't seem to realise that Pedro was back on the field. He's clean through, Laurent Koscielny gets back to apply pressure but Pedro never looks convincing and his shot is tame. Really tame.

This is a good spell for Arsenal as Sead Kolasinac rattles in a low shot, Thibaut Courtois can only parry it out and he's lucky that the ball goes in between two Arsenal attackers following up.

Did Arsenal need to take one of those chances?!

    Pedro is back on.

KB: I somehow see Arsenal getting one in around the 60th minute, hanging on to finally draw at the 91st minute.

Dave W: Welbeck moves well but I reckon Giroud would have buried that header.

  20. CLOSE!published at 18 mins

Brilliant from Hector Bellerin again as he sprints behind Marcos Alonso for the second time in a minute, his cutback reaches Alexandre Lacazette, but his low shot is straight at Thibaut Courtois.

    Encouraging for the visitors.
