Sigurdsson is trying to go in behind the strikers because he is not getting anything on the left wing.

I don't know if he is doing it off his own back or it is something the manager has said.

There were 24 passes in the build-up to Jeff Hendrick's goal, the second highest of any goal this season behind Fabian Delph's goal for Manchester City against Crystal Palace.

    Everton 0-1 Burnley

Oumar Niasse is the liveliest man in a blue shirt and he wins a corner with some strong running down the left again. Chris Wood heads a corner away.

By the way, if Burnley do win today, they will have eight away points, more than the whole of last season.

You can feel the nerves in the crowd every time a ball goes slightly astray.

Everton like to look a confident team on the ball and the fans are just not getting it.

Gylfi Sigurdsson feeds Oumar Niasse who drives forwards before teeing up Idrissa Gueye for the strike, which is sliced wide. Groans around Goodison.

KoloKK: Vlasic is such a poor man's Barkley. Good going forward, more horrible going backwards.

Bob Moss: Koeman gone by Christmas, Everton look awful. Lukaku money was wasted.

    Everton 0-1 Burnley

Everton trailed on Thursday night but were gifted a response by a defensive error. I wouldn't expect one from Burnley, who are very solid back there. You couldn't say the same about Ashley Williams, who under pressure shanks a backpass out for a corner.

    Everton 0-1 Burnley

Everton had started this game brighter than nearly every other match I've seen this season but now they trail to that fine goal. Defensively that was a mess from Everton.

That is an absolutely fantastic goal.

The finish is good but the skill...

Hendrick was just about to be tackled but drags the ball back and just passes it into the net. There was nothing Pickford could do.

    What a goal!

That's one of the team goals of the season as Burnley go ahead. Robbie Brady starts it all with a raking crossfield ball to Stephen Ward, his cross is nodded down by Chris Wood, Scott Arfield is involved, back to Ward, cuts it back to Jeff Hendrick, who sidesteps a challenge from Morgan Schneiderlin and then picks his spot from 15 yards!

Michael Keane and Ashley Williams didn't offer much in resistance - but let's credit the visitors. Top class!

A coat?! Sean Dyche could climb the alps in a T-shirt, just like Gabe Walker.

Oumar Niasse was late on a defender as he cleared his lines from that Gylfi Sigurdsson chance and he had a lengthy talk with the referee, but no booking.

    Everton 0-0 Burnley

    Rob Nothman
    BBC Sport at Goodison Park

A Wayne Rooney-less Everton have started brightly with Ronald Koeman standing with his arms folded in his technical area. With the collar of his black raincoat turned up, he looks like a detective weighing up the evidence. Sean Dyche is much more animated and has taken off his jacket. White shirt and tie enough on a grey, gloomy afternoon.

Again, Gylfi Sigurdsson is not sharp enough in the box! He plays a one-two with Oumar Niasse, gets the ball back on the corner of the six-yard box but the shot needed to be first-time and it wasn't. Cleared.

It's proper 100mph stuff from both teams, a complete sea change from the last few Everton games I've seen. Burnley commit men forwards this time and Scott Arfield almost finds a runner in the middle before Jordan Pickford has to punch a cross clear under pressure.

    Everton 0-0 Burnley

Oumar Niasse is bags of fun to watch, and he almost has the opener out of nothing. Everton have started much more direct and Niasse reads a flick on to help it over Nick Pope but it's well cleared from off the line. Moments later a header flies just wide.

Far more promise about this Everton opening.

That was tame. Sigurdsson has got to score there.

You dream of that this early.

    It was really poor.

Chance! Ah, a confident Gylfi Sigurdsson buries that I think. Everton counter at PACE, yes, pace, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Nikola Vlasic link up well and Sigurdsson should score from 12 yards. But it's a tame, side-footed effort and an easy save for Nick Pope.
