Rooney missing out will be the big news but to be fair if he is not doing it then he doesn't play. They needed more legs.

I suspect Rooney will be up for it when he comes on.

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger speaking to Match of the Day: "We kept the clean sheet and of course got three points. We have played more fluent than today but playing Monday, Thursday and today, it was important to get three points.

"We eased off in concentration and decision making and then it becomes a bit harder.

"The question mark is there when you change so many players (throughout the game), can you keep cohesion? It was a difficult week because the game at Bate was a difficult game. I am pleased."

Brighton manager Chris Hughton: "It was a spirited performance. I can't accuse the lads of not giving everything. It is always going to be difficult here, levels of concentration have to be for 90 minutes.

"The only disappointment in the game is that we could have shown a little more on the ball and been a little more adventurous on the ball. You have to look at the positives."

    Arsenal 2-0 Brighton

    Arsenal

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal who scored their opening goal, speaking to BT: "I was lucky to score today. We knew it would be a difficult game. They defended with a lot of players. I was lucky to be there and get my second goal for Arsenal.

"After Liverpool we talked because we can't play as we did. We lost 4-0 and the team was really poor. From there the team reacted we are playing more compact, we defend with all players and have a clean sheet.

"We have top players up front. They will score goals if we defend and can help with a clean sheet it is much better."

  15. 'Time to put things right'published at 13:52 British Summer Time 1 October 2017

    Everton v Burnley (14:15 BST)

    Rob Nothman

    Everton programme

Ronald Koeman talks in his programme notes about "putting things right". Well his major contribution to that appears to be resting Wayne Rooney who starts on the Everton bench. Koeman says his players are "fighting and running hard", and he'll know a win against away specialists Burnley and Everton will be eighth in the table.

    Crisis - what crisis ....?

For Sean Dyche, team selection is an altogether more straightforward task. He doesn't tinker unless injuries dictate and today Burnley are unchanged.
