  1. 'Rumours Koeman fallen out with senior players'published at 12:45 British Summer Time 15 October 2017

    Brighton v Everton (13:30 BST)

    KOemanImage source, PA

Former Arsenal and Everton defender Martin Keown: "You can look at the performances and ask how convincing are Everton under Ronald Koeman? Ask Wayne Rooney does he feel like he is playing for Louis van Gaal again? They are very static. Where are Ademola Lookman and Kevin Mirallas?

"There are rumours Koeman has fallen out with some senior players. He has fallen out with Mirallas. Maybe it's time to put an arm around some players? Romelu Lukaku leaving is a big thing. Koeman has to change the state of mind of the players. The players look down and he needs to change that around. At Goodison Park they want high-energy football and they are not really in the games, it's all too slow and static."

Ross Barkley has been injured but he is a terrific talent. His role in the team has to be identified and I see him as a number 10.

Barkley is worth a lot of money and was maybe being sold in the summer. Everton have bought a few players but he is one of their own.

Everton are struggling to score, despite having a lot of 'number 10s'. However, they have another one still to come back...

  4. 'Mourinho gets the job done'published at 12:38 British Summer Time 15 October 2017

    Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United

    MOTD2 Extra

West Ham and Portugal defender Jose Fonte: "Jose Mourinho knows how to win. Everyone has their own opinion but he gets the job done. Even with Portugal we won the Euros playing like that, on the counter attack, when you have the right players it is the right tactic. In different games you have to give the opposition the ball."

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown: "Is it United who might go unbeaten for a whole season but don't win the league? Could this weekend be that important? He put the handbrake on his team at Anfield and stopped his team playing. It was a missed opportunity. It could come down to goal difference - it could be that tight."

Sunday Times journalist Jonathan Northcroft: "I did not particularly like United's style at Anfield but my concern was, was it the pragmatic thing to do against a struggling team?"

  5. 'An opportunity lost'published at 12:36 British Summer Time 15 October 2017

Portugal and West Ham defender Jose Fonte, who had dinner with Liverpool's Dejan Lovren on Saturday: "Dejan had a great game on Saturday - and he felt that they were only lacking the goal. You need goals to win games and at the moment they are not finishing the moves. He felt a bit frustrated. He felt it was an opportunity lost."

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown: "It's Roy of the Rovers stuff from Manchester City when you compare them to Manchester United. The neutral will want City to win the league. The messages from Jose Moruinho - leaving Juan Mata on the bench, players see that and stick that with the way they play sometimes I think."

Sunday Times journalist Jonathan Northcroft: "I think there is a case of reprising the Barcelona-Real Madrid rivalry that existed between Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho here with the contrasting styles of management."

West Ham and Portugual defender Jose Fonte: "I think we are forgetting Manchester United started the league really well. Okay, yesterday was not the most beautiful, but they were playing attractive football."

We were not spenders when I was Everton but that is what everyone wanted. The supporters wanted to get back to being the best team in England.

We qualified for the Champions League and you expect them to challenge for the top six but they have had a horrendous start to the season facing the top six.

The biggest issue with Everton this season has been the amount of money they spent in the summer.

The top four or five in the league look really powerful and look like pulling away from the pack but the gap below is closing.

Ronald Koeman will be looking for an improvement over the next two or three games.

    Manchester City 7-2 Stoke

    MOTD2 Extra

West Ham and Portugal defender Jose Fonte: "I know Bernardo Silva is loving it at Man City. I show interest in what Pep Guardiola is doing. He tells me training is amazing, they have meetings every day to know exactly what to do in every situation.

"When you have these meetings you feel comfortable and understand the movements of your team-mates. You can only enjoy in these teams. He is relentless but Bernando said they had three meetings to discuss Stoke! Guardiola is meticulous in what he does. Then on the pitch you can express yourself."

    Er, Everton do!

They have registered 17 shots on target in their first seven top-flight games this term - just two more than the individual tally of former Evertonian Romelu Lukaku (now at Manchester United).

  13. 'Pep is a rarity'published at 12:26 British Summer Time 15 October 2017

    Manchester City 7-2 Stoke

    MOTD2 Extra

West Ham and Portugal defender Jose Fonte: "Pep Guardiola sees the quality and he sees different skills in the players and thinks 'maybe he will be better here', and he is able to bring the best out of them.

"Guardiola is one of the best in the world - that is for a reason, because he does stuff that perhaps others don't, sees stuff others don't - it is a rarity, he puts people in usual positions, like Fabian Delph at left-back, and it is working."

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown: "I think Pep Guardiola is an artist and he has now got the players that he needs and he has really got that team going in the right direction.

"It is like a football factory and he is just refining little bits every day. It must be a joy to come into training every day."

  14. Where have all the goals gone?published at 12:24 British Summer Time 15 October 2017

    Brighton v Everton (13:30 BST)

We will have team news shortly from the Amex. Both sides could do with someone like Kevin de Bruyne. Time for Gylfi Sigurdsson to step up for Everton?

    • Everton are winless in 11 Premier League away games since beating Crystal Palace on 21 January.
    • The Toffees have only scored six goals in their last 12 league matches, failing to score on seven occasions.
  15. 'De Bruyne is like a locksmith'published at 12:23 British Summer Time 15 October 2017

    Manchester City 7-2 Stoke

    MOTD2 Extra

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown: "Kevin de Bruyne is like an engineer if you like with the passes he can play. A locksmith, he is a footballer of the highest order with some of those passes. His right foot is like a paint brush.

"He can be anything he wants to be. The quality and the weight of the passes. He can score wonder goals. They just need to keep him for the rest of the season. We saw against Chelsea the in vogue system was to play three at the back and they were dominant in midfield."

West Ham defender Jose Fonte: "Pep Guardiola is bringing the best out of De Bruyne. He is almost unplayable. His vision and quality is tremendous. It's not easy to play against!"

One of these sides will find themselves in the Premier League relegation zone tomorrow night, if Leicester beat West Brom on Monday evening.

Ronald Koeman's position has been under some scrutiny in recent weeks, but the prospect of the Toffees dropping into the bottom three after two months of the season is now very real.

Speaking to a few Everton supporters on their way into the stadium, they're growing increasingly frustrated with their side's recent performances under Koeman.

They're very keen to see the re-introduction of the likes of Tom Davies and Ademola Lookman into the team to give them some much needed energy.
