    Brighton 0-0 Everton

Chance! Brighton win a corner and they nearly score from it! The ball comes out to Anthony Knockaert, he hits his shot cleanly but it's well blocked, the ball then runs out to Lewis Dunk, hits the shot from an angle - and wants a penalty!

Michael Keane blocks it on the line. Let's see, hits his side, then onto his arm/hands. Body first.

    Corner given.

    When's Seamus Coleman back?

Everton attack down their right but Michael Keane can only duff a cross behind for a goal kick. Dominic Calvert-Lewin then plays a good-looking ball over the top but it's a yard too strong for Nikola Vlasic.

You can't really fault Everton for endeavor so far. But their execution has been off.

    Brighton 0-0 Everton

Everton are still on top at the Amex, with the noisy home crowd starting to be silenced now. Gylfi Sigurdsson has the chance to test the hosts with a free-kick but Dominic Calvert-Lewin heads over.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 20 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Everton

A shot on target! And a neat move from Everton too. Gylfi Sigurdsson finds Nikola Vlasic on the edge of the area, he tees up Idrissa Gueye arriving at pace to his right, the midfielder hits it low and hard and Mat Ryan makes a very decent one-handed save low to his right.

Pretty much every time Wayne Rooney has had the ball he has lost it instantly. He's just too slow now to play up front if you ask me. Which nobody is.

Get him deeper and it's a different story. It's early days but the odds on this finishing 0-0 are already feeling pretty short...

Oooof! Gylfi Sigurdsson puts in a free-kick which Brighton keeper Mat Ryan comes to punch away. He does, and leaves both Phil Jagielka and Shane Duffy in a heap.

They both need treatment but should be OK. A hefty collision.

Everton are again forgetting the lessons of the last five or six years and have started with Wayne Rooney as the central striker. This is a problem when he pops up at left-back to get a touch of the ball.

    BBC Radio 5 live

It's worth noting this game isn't live on TV in England today.

It was moved several weeks ago but, when the television companies didn't select it, the Premier League decided to keep it on a Sunday to try and attract an international audience.

Knowing that, I can't imagine the Everton fans who have made the 542 mile round trip to Sussex today will have been too pleased with their ridiculously early start this morning.
