Big fan of this sort of thing...

Can we change more players to have the ß rather than double ss please... Ryan Shawcroß, Papiß Ciße and the mighty Dean Windaß anyone?

    Brighton 0-0 Everton

A kindly ricochet allows Gylfi Sigurdsson to put in a cross from the Everton right, it's not a bad one at all but a sliding Shane Duffy is able to cut it out. Brighton then have a long spell of possession but they can only go backwards and the momentum has gone.

Solly March puts the burners on down the Brighton left to skin Mason Holgate and put in a low cross but it's cleared smartly by Phil Jagielka, who hasn't put a foot wrong on his return to the side so far.

Rooney and Baines were deep in conversation on the way back out of the tunnel at the Amex.

No changes from either side but you feel one won't be far away if the second half starts in a similar fashion to the first 45 minutes.

    Maya Yoshida poster anyone?

That's the pullout in today's match programme, the Japanese defender scorer of one of Southampton's paltry five goals in the Premier League this season.

In fact if you've been to all five home games, including the defeat to Wolves in the League Cup, you've only seen three goals at St. Mary's which all came in the same game against West Ham and two of those were penalties!

But don't let that deter you from listening to the game in full on BBC radio 5 live this afternoon followed by Kelly Cates and Ian Wright taking your calls on 606.

But your point stands. It's been a familiar 45 minutes from Everton.

The Amex is certainly quieter than normal, but that's a reflection of a rather poor game.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is visibly becoming more frustrated. He's very animated in his technical area with most of his angst aimed towards a so-far patient fourth official.
