Speaking to BBC Sport, Ronald Koeman said: "The game was over after the sending off, until that time, we fought really well, defended well, it was 1-2 and after that we lose a man and then it is impossible and then punished us.

    On tactical change at half-time.

"I knew we had to change something, started with three centre-backs. Sanchez make it really difficult with his movement, change position.

    On future

"It is a really tough time, the team are not performing well, the position in the table is not the position Everton should be in. Even after today, I see a lot of positives. It is a negative situation for the team, everything is negative, but I am not like that.

"We had a lot of expectation after last season, those expectations not filling in, that makes the situation difficult."

Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman: "If you are going to keep a player in the club you have to give him opportunities in games and Pochettino has done that for Harry Winks.

"With Dembele being out he has been a great addition. Eriksen and Alli need the ball quickly and Harry Winks is great at that."

Notts County manager Kevin Nolan: "I watched Harry Winks a couple of seasons ago in a game against West Ham. He was a big part of helping Tottenham turn the game around. Living down there, you hear a lot from Spurs fans who are excited about him.

"We are League Two and we have to wait for all the business above us to be done. We get the lads on loan who have not been able to find a League One club. When you get a gem like Winks, Pochettino has clearly realised he doesn't need to send him on loan and use him in the right way."

New York Times journalist Rory Smith: "Pochettino used to bring Winks on for two minutes at the end of games and you would winder why, but he was teaching him game situations, giving him a small bit of exposure."

And he speaks to Sky Sports about the presence of fellow Argentine and footballing legend Diego Maradona at Wembley.

"I saw him a few minutes ago. it was amazing to see him. I was his team-mate for a short period, He was my idol and for me the best player ever."

    Everton

Everton defender Michael Keane told Sky Sports: "I think so [we are drained of confidence]. Normally everyone would want to get on the ball and show what they can do. Maybe you're not seeing that now. It was a difficult day."

On manager Ronald Koeman being under pressure: "It's down to us, the manager can only do so much. We have 100% belief in him. We feel like we've let him down. We're working really hard to sort it out."

Ronald Koeman speaking to Sky Sports speaking about his future at Everton.

"I don't know, I told the players I believe in them, in their commitment. The decision is not in my hands."

    Is he concerned?

"That's normal, that's football. We have played nine Premier League games against the first five of the Premier League last season. We are not position on table what is good for Everton, I understand, I have been in football a long time, don't tell me what can happen, I don't think it's too late."

"It is not a time to start to be crazy. I am responsible for this team, it's a big result even against a team like Arsenal, we will see what happens."

  13. 'I thought we are here again'published at 15:46 British Summer Time 22 October 2017

    Everton 2-5 Arsenal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger told BBC Sport: "After Wayne Rooney's goal, I thought 17 years later we are here again. That was a test for us, we should have been 2-0 or 3-0 up at that stage. It was about how we responded to that - could we keep calm? We did that in a convincing way. Our passing and movement was excellent.

"It's very difficult to single out any performances as everyone played very well. It was important to get our first win away from home."

On Mesut Ozil's performance: "The difference is that he has worked extremely hard physically. When he's in that shape physically, nobody can question his class or the quality of his game."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told Sky Sports: "We should have been 2-0 or 3-0 up, but we were 1-0 down. We didn't panic and maintained our focus. Once we equalised, it was all us for the rest of the game.

"I was [concerned] because recently we've been punished for every mistake we make away from home. But I knew there was a long time to go.

"Our away performances this season have not been rewarded."

Is Mesut Ozil back to his best?

"I would say yes. I told him after the game that a fit Ozil is completely different. If you're not 100% at your best, no matter how good you are, you are at a handicap."

Maybe, just maybe, signing the keeper who conceded the most goals in the PL last season; a centre mid who had previously failed to make the step up at Spurs and an unproven player from the Dutch League for a total £100 million wasn't the best idea?

    James, Salford

I don't think we were even this bad under Walter Smith. To have spent £140m and be in the relegation zone is unforgivable. Koeman must go.

On this evidence Everton are in real, real trouble. There were very few redeeming features about their play. There is no belief in what they are doing and they are not good enough to play like that.

There is no reaction to what is going on. The fans have just given up reacting. Apathy is too strong a word but they look like they've had the guts knocked out of them.

I don't expect Everton to change the world but I do expect to pick elements where I can see what Koeman is trying to do or why he has recruited that player. There was none of that today. The best they could do is get men behind the ball. No balance, no shape, the system didn't suit the players and there was no quality. Arsenal had five and it could have been a lot more on the weight of Arsenal chances.

Before the game, Claridge said Koeman should be shown patience. Asked if he has now changed his mind: Yes, yes I have.

I am not advocating people leave their job but something has to change quickly.

    Everton 2-5 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker speaking to Sky Sports: "We started really well, to go 1-0 behind was difficult, but we stuck to our game plan and created a lot of chances in the first half that we did not execute. In the second-half we executed better, our guys on top did it, it was crucial to have Mesut Ozil today.

"We knew Everton were under pressure and we took advantage. We don't need anyone to judge what we do, the only answer you can give is on the pitch. The way we handled the situation away from home was magnificent."

On the fact it was the first time Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette all started...

"In training we always show our quality together. Today you saw on the pitch. We showed our quality and all scored."
