That was the chance for United. Ederson has been brilliant.

  2. GREAT SAVES!published at 86 mins

    Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City

    Brilliant!

It's not Romelu Lukaku's day but that is superb from Ederson! Anthony Martial volleys a cross into the middle, Lukaku meets it from about six yards out, Ederson blocks it with face, and then somehow gets up to save Juan Mata's follow-up.

The second save is outrageously good. Is that the win for City?

United will not win the Premier League whilst Jose is manager. Primitive limited football.

Arsenal's record run of 14 league wins was set across two seasons so this will be a record in its own right, should City hang on.

Into the last 10. City have one sub left.

Is there another goal in the game?

Dave W: I'm not a fan of Lingard but he has chased City down well today. Should have kept him on & swapped the big guy for the big guy.

Sam: Handbags, fisticuffs and drama! Someone pass the popcorn!

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 81 mins

Ander Herrera has been involved in every flashpoint of the game but now he's off, on comes Juan Mata. Nemanja Matic is playing in midfield on his own.

City are Manchester's top dogs and only a fool would disagree.

    Simon, Manchester.

If United sell Lukaku in January, I wouldn’t be upset. Clearly not cut out for this level and that's being proved consistently.

  10. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 79 mins

    Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City

Well played Eliaquim Mangala! United threaten to get in behind and Romelu Lukaku is inside the box - Mangala makes a great challenge.

Nicolas Otamendi then takes a bad touch, Ander Herrera nips in, goes down...penalty?

Herrera is booked. That is a big call. There was contact.

United playing pretty much four up front now. If they lose today is the title race over? Robbie Savage thinks so. May as well go for it.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 76 mins

    Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City

Another lapse from Fabian Delph, he tried to nick the ball and missed the bounce. It lets Marcus Rashford in but his shot from 20 yads is well watched by Ederson and turned away.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is ON for Jesse Lingard.

Bruce: United cannot put a stop at midfield to start an attacking move, unfortunately hoofing the ball whenever we get the ball and waiting for mistakes are the best attacking methods for us.

Kolade: The game has really opened up. Exciting.

Calvin: A season that promised so much is slowly slipping away from us. Jose needs to take the blame for under par performances.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 73 mins

    Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City

David Silva is booked for one of two or three tackles he put in in that melee a minute or two ago.

Into the last 20 minutes. Again, worth labouring the point that City haven't put this game away yet. And Everton hit Liverpool earlier. who had been similarly dominant.

The crowd are up now - United break well and they think they should have a free-kick, not given. There are then three or four tackles in a row which are on the borderline. David Silva turns into David Batty.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 70 mins

    Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City

Save! Space is opening up for City now, a third goal isn't far away I don't think. Kevin de Bruyne is able to drive through an empty midfield and his left-footed shot is flying in before David de Gea gets a big hand on it.

  19. David Silva a joy to watchpublished at 18:00 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

What a footballer David Silva is - the player with the most time on the ball, the most creative influence on the pitch.

Pep Guardiola may be changing the guard somewhat at Manchester City but there is always room for David Silva.

Old Trafford is a very subdued place at the moment.

Raheem Sterling gives away a free-kick in what is not very often called 'Ashley Young territory.'

Young should have had it. Marcus Rashford punts it over.
