Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino on Harry Kane: "So happy for him. He deserved it. He is not only a talented player but also a great professional.

"It is a great characteristic of him that he is a team player. We need to keep how he is professionally going. He is a massive example for everyone.

"We have seen him grow at the club after three and a half years. Massive, massive, massive improvement. That makes us very proud and I am very happy with all he has achieved."

On Tottenham's season so far: "We are happy. We are fighting there. We are in a good position. Hopes for the next year is to try to win every game but for everyone to be happy and healthy."

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to Sky Sports about Harry Kane: "I think I have said everything. His name is there [with the best in the world], it is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to him and to the team because you also need help from the team.

"It does not surprise us because everyday we see how he works, how determined he is and how professional he is. That can only be good for him.

"Professional is a massive word - you need to include everything there inside and he is a good example of that."

On hopes for Tottenham in 2018: "We are ambitious but I am happy we finish the year in a very good way. For next year? Win - win every game. The mentality is so important for us."

"It was hard not to think about it, being level going into the game. I wanted to win the game but of course I wanted to score as a striker. Getting that record was a great feeling.

"I've improved physically - recovery for games, getting ready for each game, eating right and ice baths. I feel good and sharp and at my bet at this busy period.

"They are fantastic players here. It's fantastic to play with them. We're a hard team to stop and I said to them before the game to try and set me up and they did that, so I'll have to take them out for dinner."

Spurs are scoring goals because of the players they have got. I can't see them catching City, but what they need to make sure is they get in the top four and that they don't get detached.

Dusan Tadic is fouled 30 yards from goal and Southampton have a free-kick. Tadic plays it low towards the near post, hoping to find Shane Long, but Danny Rose is there to clear.

Southampton need to do what Tottenham did for Harry Kane and just give the ball to Long every time they attack. That man needs a goal.

A positive for Southampton is that they have scored two goals in a game for the first time in a month. That's not so good when you are shipping five in at the other end.
