  1. Carvalhal needs to work miraclespublished at 12:33 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Watford v Swansea (15.00 GMT)

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

It's shocking to see Swansea like this. The only place they're going to end up is in the Championship - and it doesn't look like it'll be a busy January for them either. Carlos Carvalhal has come in and said he's willing to work with the players they've got - but it'll be a miracle if he can keep them up.

  3. Who's going down?published at 12:27 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Swansea and West Brom have big problems. You need a goalscorer down there. I still think Palace and Bournemouth but I think West Ham will get out of there.

I think from Newcastle down, they are the six who will be in trouble. Brighton and Huddersfield were the two you would look at early season but they are punching well above their weight. They are getting stronger.

    Another week, another new manager.

Fair play to Carlos Carvalhal, who has bounced back from getting sacked by Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on Christmas eve to grab himself a seat at the top table with Swansea.

Granted, he’s got a lot of work to do to ensure he’s not back in the second tier in a few months time. The Portuguese manager is confident, though.

I believe that me and my staff, our place is in the Premier League,” he said. "It may be my first time in the Premier League, but I was working at Sporting, with Besiktas and I played with Braga in the Europa League. "I am a coach that if you saw my profile I will change the club, you will see that."
