Son Heung-min flicks a header from a free-kick just over the bar before a bit of route one football almost catches out Tottenham. Cenk Tosun latches onto to Jordan Pickford's long kick before feeding Wayne Rooney, but he sweeps his shot wide. Opening up a little bit now.

Chris Mitchell: Is it me - and it probably is - but is Dele Alli not the most overrated footballer in the Premier League?!?

    Thoughts?

I like the way Serge Aurier gets up and down that right hand-side, but he still needs to work on his delivery, it's just lacking a bit of quality at the moment.

    Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Serge Aurier is getting so much space down the right but his delivery into the box has so far been poor. That area of the pitch is looking like Everton's weakness.

    Bradley Allen
Ex-QPR striker on BBC Radio London at Wembley

Sam Allardyce always seems to have the ability to come into a club and get the players on side. He clears their heads, and gets them working for him, and he's a big believer in sports science - so he'll be getting the Everton players fitter too.

    Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Dele Alli is in a race with Mason Holgate to try and get to a ball over the Everton defence. Holgate wins that battle.

Ten minutes in and Tottenham are on top but haven't troubled the Everton goal. Sam Allardyce's side is typically well organised.

Now we get to see Cenk Tosun as he chases a ball through the defence. His first touch takes the ball away from him and towards Davinson Sanchez and he is then promptly guilty of a foul as he stands on Sanchez's foot in an attempt to regain possession.

It's been a fast start from Spurs here, they've been on point so far, and it's clear they're looking to score the first goal in this very important game.

I can't pass comment on how Cenk Tosun is looking because his Everton team is firmly in defend mode at the moment. Tottenham have the visitors pegged back right on the edge of their own area.

Tottenham's passing is crisp in these early minutes, Everton look to have their work cut out.

Remember when Tottenham could not win for toffee at Wembley? Well, those days are firmly behind them.

Spurs are currently on a 10-match unbeaten run at Wembley in the Premier League, winning six of those.

Victory today will move them level on points with fourth-place Liverpool.

Amidst criticism of Everton's seemingly uninspiring approach of late, Sam Allardyce is hopeful that Wembley can lift his players , externalto improvement.

More shots on goal would help, and Allardyce hopes to boost attacking prowess with a move for Theo Walcott, having already signed Cenk Tosun.

With 14 goals for Besiktas this season, the Turkish striker comes to the Premier League with confidence - and he has put Spurs lights out before.

After an autumn wobble, Spurs are winning games again and scoring for fun.

They look well set for a top-four push, but need Dele Alli and Son Heung Min to keep topping up Harry Kane's bottomless goals bucket.

  19. A task too big even for Big Sam?published at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2018

Four months is a very long time in football.

Rewind to September last year. Everton, stuck deep in the relegation mire, were thumped 3-0 by Tottenham. An absolute mismatch.

Now, though, things are different at the Toffees. Sam Allardyce, and not Ronald Koeman, is sat in the dugout with his side now sitting pretty in the top half of the Premier League.

But a win for Everton away to Tottenham may be even too much of an ask for Allardyce.

They haven't beaten Spurs on their turf in 10 years...
