  1. CLOSE!published at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

A decent opening for Derby, who are showing why they are on a good run in the Championship. Sam Winnall exchanges passes with Andreas Weimann, has a pocket of space on the edge of the area and drags a shot wide!

  2. 'Anfield is relatively quiet'published at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

Everton will be very pleased with the first half hour. They have demonstrated the defensive organisation Sam Allardyce has introduced while Yannick Bolasie is giving them the width and threat they did not have in the recent Premier League draw at Anfield.

    Anfield is relatively quiet.

  3. Postpublished at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Sadio Mane scored a belter with his left foot at Turf Moor and he tries one again - 20 yards+ but it's always over the top.

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

Nobody in a white shirt appealed after that Alex Pearce half chance. I'd like to see that again...

  5. Penalty appeal?published at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

    Kevin Kilbane
Former Republic of Ireland winger on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

What a chance for Alex Pearce. But Chris Smalling isn't even looking at the ball when he's battling with him - I think it's a foul - he's just looking to put Alex Pearce off.

  6. Soz refpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Quick apology from Ander Herrera to referee Kevin Friend just then.

Herrera chipped the ball back to the Derby area after Juan Mata had been fouled but the pass hit Friend on the way.

    No harm done. Apology accepted.

  7. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

And now Derby go close as Johnny Russell's cross is headed on goal by Marcus Olsson but Sergio Romero turns it over the top. From the corner Alex Pearce heads wide!

Decent tie this - Everton lump it downfield, Joel Matip makes a mess of it and Yannick Bolasie eventually delivers a good cross which is well cleared.

    Threats at either end...

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

    Juan MataImage source, Reuters

United free-kick on the edge of the area, two or three men around the ball but it's Juan Mata to take - save!

Over the wall, into the corner but a big hand turns it away.

  10. 'Clever'published at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

James Milner is clever there, he just tries to tease it across goal, he puts it into an area and Adam Lallana just can't get on the end of it.

  11. CLOSE!published at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Everton have an excursion into the Liverpool penalty area but it eventually comes to nothing before James Milner arrives at the back post at the other end and side-foots a volley narrowly wide. That had Jordan Pickford concerned...

  12. Postpublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

    Kevin Kilbane
Former Republic of Ireland winger on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

The way United are moving the ball is impressive - one and two touch.

That chance was brilliantly worked by Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Once Marcus Rashford comes inside I think he should be doing better. He had a clear sight of goal, he should be hitting the target.

  13. CLOSE!published at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

Closer! Marcus Rashford drops a shoulder and leaves four Derby defenders in his wake, brilliant piece of play from the England man but from 15 yards out he goes for pure power and blazes a shot over the bar.

  14. 'Workload is quite incredible'published at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

It is not quite clicking for Jurgen Klopp. The workload now for the Premier League players is quite incredible. Mind you, you want to win a trophy and have something to show for at the end of your career.

  15. Postpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

Marcus Rashford hits a dipping shot wide from range as the game continues to tick along at a decent pace.

  16. 'Quite happy'published at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

I think Sam Allardyce will be quite happy at the moment. Everton are proving they can pass the ball, they just need to go forward a bit earlier.

  17. Postpublished at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

Derby's first break and it comes with Tom Lawrence collecting a misplaced pass and haring up the pitch. He runs at Chris Smalling, has him worried, but when he finds Sam Winnall he's well challenged.

The same two then combine again to no real avail.

Agreed. Yannick Bolasie is a joy to watch from this neutral's point of view. Great to have him back.

Tim Smith: Enjoying watching Bolasie play. Hasn't had much success yet but he's clearly loving being back on the pitch.

  20. Postpublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

This is a much better game to watch than the league game between these sides last month, the first 19 minutes have rattled along.

No shots on target yet, admittedly.
