    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

Excellent play again from the exciting Jesse Lingard, who skins two or three men right through the middle before teeing up Henrikh Mkhitaryan on the right - his cross is really poor though.

    On his way out soon?

  2. 'Not the best preparation'published at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

Sadio Mane certainly does not look like he has just stepped off a plane. He was travelling for 24 hours. I'm not sure it is the best preparation for a game of this size.

  3. Postpublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

Paul Pogba shoots wide from range again - this is about as dynamic a start as I've seen from Manchester United for a while.

  4. Postpublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Private jet or not, I find it incredible that Sadio Mane was at an awards do in Ghana last night and playing now but here we go, he fires in a shot from 20 yards which is very high and not too handsome. The away fans love that.

  5. Bolasie an outlet?published at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

Wayne Rooney is ticking here and needs to watch himself. Interesting that Everton are trying to get Yannick Bolasie into the game so much. He was a real scourge of Liverpool when he played for Crystal Palace.

  6. Postpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

Another half chance for Manchester United as Ander Herrera is left free at a free-kick but he doesn't know whether to head on goal or find Paul Pogba and in the end he does neither.

  7. 'Van Dijk has star quality'published at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

You have to throw your players straight in to the side. It is a lot of money, but Virgil van Dijk, he has star quality. You have to make your mark when you go to clubs and win trophies.

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Yannick BolasieImage source, Reuters

Everton have a good little spell with some extended possession and pressure. The gameplan involves finding Yannick Bolasie as much as possible and the winger looks bang on it. Andrew Robertson has been beaten twice but does well each time to stick with his man and prevent any real danger.

At the other end Emre Can shoots well, well over.

Interesting to see rival bosses Jose Mourinho and Gary Rowett having a chat in their respective technical areas.

Seemed relaxed enough. Fourth official David Coote didn't feel the need to intervene anyway.

  10. Postpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

Paul Pogba wants this game done and dusted. He manhandles the ball from George Thorne, rolls another man and then thumps a shot straight at Scot Carson.

  11. CLOSE!published at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

Paul Pogba steps into the area with a lovely little movement and he finds dance partner Jesse LIngard just inside the area. He hits a powerful shot over the top. Best moment yet.

  12. 'A little reducer'published at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

I think Wayne Rooney is saying (to the referee) 'I got there as quick as I could', but it was very late and it is a painful one for Joe Gomez. A little reducer from Rooney early on. I hope he doesn't regret that.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Some proper tackling! Virgil van Dijk fouls Yannick Bolasie but the referee plays on, that starts a domino effect of challenges that ends with Wayne Rooney absolutely chopping down Joe Gomez!

As clear cut a yellow card as you will ever see. That's got Anfield even more fired up...

  14. 'United's big chance of a trophy'published at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Derby

    Kevin Kilbane
Former Republic of Ireland winger on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Manchester United going out to Bristol City in the Carabao Cup will be playing on Jose Mourinho's mind and he won't want that to happen again. By the end of that game, they had a lot of top players on the pitch. Tonight he's doing the opposite and starting with a strong side - he wants to get this game won as early as he can.

I can't see them winning the Champions League or the Premier League. This is the one big chance of winning a trophy.

  15. 'Really stepped up'published at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

    Jurgen KloppImage source, Reuters

I would love to play for Jurgen Klopp, he shares every moment with his players. Everything is geared for Liverpool to go forward, their full-backs pushing forward, but Roberto Firmino is the one who has really stepped up his game this season.

  16. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

  17. Postpublished at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Liverpool with 86% of the very early play. No chances of note to report yet as the first proper derby tackle goes in, Andrew Robertson on James McCarthy...

  18. It's been a long timepublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Manchester United v Derby (20:00GMT

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Manchester United and Derby have met fairly regularly in the FA Cup down the years, including a semi-final in 1976, which United won 2-0 thanks to a couple of goals from Gordon Hill.

Derby have won a couple of the meetings. But no-one in this stadium will remember them.

They were in 1896 and 1897.

  19. 'One of greatest days in calendar'published at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

Manchester United v Derby (20:00 GMT)

    Kevin Kilbane
Former Republic of Ireland winger on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

It was great when you were a kid watching FA Cup games. I support a lower league side and it was great when you had the chance to watch your side against a top-flight team. It's one of the greatest days in the football calendar.

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

Virgil van Dijk's first touch gets a ripple of applause from the stands, calmly playing the ball past Wayne Rooney to find Joel Matip. Liverpool have started well.
