    Chelsea 3-0 Newcastle

We may have a delay here with seconds left in added time. Antonio Rudiger and Joselu have clashed in the air. The Chelsea man is worse off but he's now sat up.

  2. CLOSE!published at 90 mins

    Chelsea 3-0 Newcastle

Lovely stuff from Chelsea, the sort of stuff you get at this stage of an easy win, when the shackles are off. Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi are involved and the move ends with Michy Batshuayi spinning in the area to open up another hat-trick chance. He shoots across goal - well parried by Karl Darlow.

  3. CLOSE!published at 88 mins

    Chelsea 3-0 Newcastle

Michy Batshuayi sells Chancel Mbembe so badly the Newcastle defender needs a ticket to get back in.

He's tight to the dead-ball line and the dummy is superb, leaving Mbemba on his back. It means Batshuayi can cut in and open up to shoot. The hat-trick is denied as Karl Darlow saves with his legs from point-blank range.

  4. Postpublished at 87 mins

    Chelsea 3-0 Newcastle

Ciaran Clark tries to start a Chelsea attack by striding out like he's Paolo Maldini. The pass is overhit and Willy Caballero picks it up.

It's worth remembering Caballero made a few decent first-half saves. He denies Jonjo Shelvey with a low save when the score was 0-0. That seems an age ago. Fine margins.

Kris Jefferson: You know what, this Newcastle team could be pretty decent. They just need a new striker...and a new centre-back...and right-back......and centre-mid...

    Cheeky Kris.

Samsheer: Any top player in the world would love to have the free kick technique LWB Alonso possesses. Incredible.

Danny: Again the gulf in class between the two teams is evident. Come on Ashley, get yer cheque book out!

Adam: Alonso, your left foot is beautiful...

What a ball by Ethan Ampadu. He's deep in his half and drives a pass over the top for Pedro to chase. It's a foot race to get to the ball before Karl Darlow and he does but the Spain international can only prod the ball against the legs of Darlow.

    What a superb pass.

Darlow is forced into action again seconds later, tipping a David Zappacosta shot over.

Ethan Ampadu, who has just come on, is making his fifth Chelsea appearance. At just 17, he's already played for Wales twice.

This is all positive stuff. The downside to the young man is he has the same hairstyle as David Luiz.

Ethan Ampadu comes on for N'Golo Kante.

You can see from the average positions players have taken up that Newcastle (right) have not just sat back to be picked off. They've got up the pitch and had a go. It's just that added bit of quality which has proven key here.

Chelsea have played at their own pace and when moments of promise have come, they have the ability to see them through and make them count.

Cardiff v Manchester City (16:00 GMT)

Don't forget we've got another game at 16:00 GMT - one you can watch on BBC One.

Sergio Aguero is on the bench for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola has opted for Raheem Sterling up top.

But there is a return for skipper Vincent Kompany at centre-back.

For Cardiff, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is handed a start despite not making the XI for the games against Sheffield Wednesday and Mansfield Town. Experienced defender Sol Bamba is injured and misses out.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

    Chelsea 3-0 Newcastle

Eden Hazard is off for Ross Barkley. This game is done and dusted.

"Three nil and you still don't sing".

That's what's coming from the away end.

GOAL - Chelsea 3-0 Newcastlepublished at 72 mins

    Marcos Alonso

That free-kick Davide Zappacosta won is well used to say the least.

Marcos Alonso, left-footed, whip over the wall, top bin.

He blows two kisses to the crowd in celebration.

    Stylish.

    Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle

Joselu darts into the area to try to connect with a good ball into the box but he can't get a toe to it.

Ross Barkley is about to come on for Chelsea, who win a free-kick 25 yards out as Davide Zappacosta goes down.

  17. Postpublished at 69 mins

    Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle

Eden Hazard goes past his man like he's not there and drills a low cross into the legs of Chancel Mbemba. The ball is recycled back to Hazard and he again delivers to win a corner.

Danny Drinkwater has a dig from range which is deflected for another corner. Chelsea are just playing at their pace, containing the away side in their own half without too much effort.

    Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Radio 5 live

Clearly at the moment Chelsea are looking strong and it's a chance to work on relationships within the side. It's a good opportunity now, almost like a training session, to work on those partnerships as they see out this game.

  19. Postpublished at 67 mins

    Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle

Dwight Gayle had 20 touches before he went off, the least of anyone on the pitch.

One man doing himself some justice out there is Isaac Hayden. He's completed 89% of his passes in the Newcastle midfield - that's the best mark in the side. He's also putting himself about and has contested 13 duels, winning five. That makes him the Toon's most combative player on the day.

He spins in midfield smartly and tries to slip Matt Ritchie in but the ball has too much beef on it. Goal kick.

Joselu comes on for Dwight Gayle. Here we go, this is the start of the comeback.
