Ciaran Clark tries to start a Chelsea attack by striding out like he's Paolo Maldini. The pass is overhit and Willy Caballero picks it up.

It's worth remembering Caballero made a few decent first-half saves. He denies Jonjo Shelvey with a low save when the score was 0-0. That seems an age ago. Fine margins.

Ethan Ampadu, who has just come on, is making his fifth Chelsea appearance. At just 17, he's already played for Wales twice.

This is all positive stuff. The downside to the young man is he has the same hairstyle as David Luiz.

You can see from the average positions players have taken up that Newcastle (right) have not just sat back to be picked off. They've got up the pitch and had a go. It's just that added bit of quality which has proven key here.

Chelsea have played at their own pace and when moments of promise have come, they have the ability to see them through and make them count.

Ross Barkley is about to come on for Chelsea, who win a free-kick 25 yards out as Davide Zappacosta goes down.

Eden Hazard goes past his man like he's not there and drills a low cross into the legs of Chancel Mbemba. The ball is recycled back to Hazard and he again delivers to win a corner.

Danny Drinkwater has a dig from range which is deflected for another corner. Chelsea are just playing at their pace, containing the away side in their own half without too much effort.

Clearly at the moment Chelsea are looking strong and it's a chance to work on relationships within the side. It's a good opportunity now, almost like a training session, to work on those partnerships as they see out this game.

Dwight Gayle had 20 touches before he went off, the least of anyone on the pitch.

One man doing himself some justice out there is Isaac Hayden. He's completed 89% of his passes in the Newcastle midfield - that's the best mark in the side. He's also putting himself about and has contested 13 duels, winning five. That makes him the Toon's most combative player on the day.

He spins in midfield smartly and tries to slip Matt Ritchie in but the ball has too much beef on it. Goal kick.

Joselu comes on for Dwight Gayle. Here we go, this is the start of the comeback.
