    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Dele Alli plays a pass wide left to Ben Davies for Tottenham, with a diagonal ball chipped in towards Christian Eriksen. It's too high, and the ball sails past everyone in the middle, but there is just the odd sign of promise for the visitors now.

  2. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

James Milner shuns the idea of playing a quick one right to Trent Alexander-Arnold. Instead it's a chip in, and Davinson Sanchez clears, amid a degree of hesitation inside the Tottenham penalty area.

  3. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Sadio Mane bowled over 30 yards from goal. Liverpool free-kick...

John Dunthorne: I feel (and I suspect many others do) because Liverpool did not score more in the first half, that Spurs will get something from this match

  5. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Ben Davies gets down the left for Tottenham and whips in a bouncing cross, but Loris Karius gathers easily enough. Liverpool continue to look solid at the back - for a team who conceded three in each of their past two home games, that's something to be pleased about.

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

No changes by either side at the break, although Tottenham's Moussa Sissoko went through a few warm-ups during the interval.

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Tottenham, who kick off attacking the Kop in the second half, have won only six times at Anfield in 74 league visits: 1910, 1912, 1985, 1986, 1993 and 2011.

Looking up a report of that 1910 win, I noticed that Tottenham's goalkeeper at the time was, brilliantly, called Tiny Joyce. His real first name was John, but he was given the ironic nickname Tiny because he was 6ft tall and 14 stone. Joyce, apparently, was not averse to goalscoring, despite his position - he scored two penalties for the club during his career.

I think Spurs will take a goal from anywhere right now. But they're only 1-0 down.

  8. 'We did well to get one point'published at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez speaking to Match of the Day, on the penalty given against his side: "He was pushing our player, our player was pulling the shirt a little bit - you could see a couple of them every game.

"We cannot change that. For me the team did well in the first half, suffer in the second half, the penalty maybe changed everything because they had to take more risks at 1-0.

"We did well coming here and getting one point. We were controlling the game in the first half, the three offensive players they have, we did well in defence.

"We had a couple of chances and the counter attack early in the second half could have changed everything. We needed to defend a little bit better."

  9. 'Point doesn't help either of us'published at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson: "After the first half, coming in 1-0 down, I would certainly have taken a point.

"After dominating the second half and creating more chances, taking the game to Newcastle, I feel we were unlucky to not have taken all three points.

"It's hard when you go a goal down, you are worried you won't get back into the game and will concede on the counter attack.

"They made life difficult in the first half, in the second we asked more questions. It's a point that doesn't help either of us enormously.

"It will have to be sufficient for me the referee gave the penalty and I am just happy we scored it this time - the rules of the game prevent people from pulling shirts."

  10. Earlier todaypublished at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle

There was one Premier League game earlier today - Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Newcastle.

Luka Milivojevic earned Palace a point - and moved them three clear of the relegation zone - with a penalty after Ciaran Clark was penalised for pulling Christian Benteke's shirt.

Mohamed Diame had turned home Kenedy's corner at the back post midway through the first half for the visitors.

Let's get some manager reaction from that game.

Chelsea Warrior: Spurs are playing the occasion. They don't look anything like the team that blew United away last week.

Ralph Pedersen: Spurs trying to play everything through the middle of a packed Liverpool midfield, it’s days like this when you miss Walker and Rose bombing down the wings opening teams up.

Paul Charles: Thoroughly outplayed during the first half. Most of the time it's felt as though Liverpool have 12 players on the field they're pressing so well

  12. Alli kept quietpublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Just to pick up on Robbie Savage's point there: Dele Alli has barely touched the ball in the final third of the pitch - and has not done so in the Liverpool penalty area.

  13. Klopp tactically spot-onpublished at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

So far Klopp has got it tactically spot-on.

I can't remember Alli picking up the ball in the final third. And we've barely mentioned Eriksen.

So far, it has been Liverpool's half but I find it bizarre that Tottenham have had more possession.

  14. Liverpool have the edgepublished at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

Just one or two signs of life from Spurs towards the end of that first half but Liverpool have created the better openings and fully deserve their lead.

Spurs, however, are still right in this game but need to get their big players Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli much more involved.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Then Spurs - not for the first time - lose the ball in their own half. James Milner plays in Sadio Mane, who tries to exchange passes with Mo Salah, but the return is just overhit. That's the last action of a very entertaining first half.

  16. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

One minute of added time. Tottenham ending the half in Liverpool territory, but the home side holding firm.

  17. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Sadio Mane is down for Liverpool after being caught by Moussa Dembele, but the Senegal forward is back on his feet after taking a moment. On we go.

'The correct decision'published at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

That's a correct decision by John Moss. He had his eyes on the ball but it was a yellow.

Alexander-Arnold is shaking his head but a yellow card was right.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 42 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Tottenham

Trouble here for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who catches Ben Davies with a high challenge, and goes into the book. Alexander-Arnold is looking at the ball, and gets a touch on it, but he also sends Davies flying. The Liverpool full-back argues that Davies caught him with a similarly bad challenge earlier and went unpunished. Referee Jon Moss isn't interested in the debate.

Shane Daly: Dele Alli is gone, when he made the England squad & had the praise, he stopped working hard. Harry Kane is the opposite.

DIgitalTeez: Dembele looking a bit leggy. The gliding past players thing was good but I think this game needs quicker passing in the mid.
