  1. 'Llorente needs to lead the line'published at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 7 February 2018

Fernando Llorente has been OK. He was awful in the first game. Llorente needs to lead the line as he is great in the air and needs to play within the width of the penalty box. With the runners Spurs have, all he has to do is be a focal point for them.

While Tottenham are advancing further and further forward more and more often, Newport are being pushed back into their own half.....

Nice play from Christian Eriksen as he plays in Danny Rose on the left. Rose has space and time to pick the Danish midfielder out again but Eriksen can't quite direct his strike at the near post.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 68 mins

    Tottenham 2-0 Newport County

David Pipe's involvement is over. He has played well in parts tonight and he has certainly put the effort in.

Shawn McCoulsky - a striker - is his replacement. Are Newport going for it?

  5. CLOSE!published at 66 mins

    Tottenham 2-0 Newport County

Great save from Joe Day as Fernando Llorente lifts the ball into the path of Erik Lamela but as the striker goes to shoot he loses his footing.

He still gets enough on it but Day is sharp and spreads his body to block the effort.

Matthew Dolan plays a nice ball into Frank Nouble but the midfielder can't pick out a teammate despite several Newport players pushing forward.

    Tottenham 2-0 Newport County

Dan Butler tries to bring the ball forward for Newport but he dithers on it for too long and it's nicked off him.

David Pipe then does well to recover possession. It receives some cheers from Newport's travelling supporters.

  8. 'Son Heung-min was outstanding'published at 21:08 Greenwich Mean Time 7 February 2018

    Tottenham 2-0 Newport County

    John Hartson
Former Wales striker on 5 Live

Son Heung-min was outstanding. I am a huge fan. I liken him to Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal where he gets the ball and is always positive. I like him and he was excellent tonight.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 62 mins

    Tottenham 2-0 Newport County

That's the end of Son Heung-min's night which will come as a huge relief for Newport County. He has been excellent for Spurs.

Christian Eriksen replaces him - which isn't exactly good news either...

  10. CLOSE!published at 61 mins

    Tottenham 2-0 Newport County

Fernando Llorente is played onside by David Pipe and he almost gets his foot on the end of a knock-on from Erik Lamela.

He was always stretching though and it goes wide of Joe Day's right post.

    Tottenham 2-0 Newport County

Son Heung-min has been very impressive tonight - his touchmap is on the left, Newport's is on the right. As you can see, he has had many more touches in the opposition area than the whole Newport team.

  12. Postpublished at 59 mins

    Tottenham 2-0 Newport County

Son Heung-min is given acres of space to run through the midfield and he links up well with Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier to create another opportunity.

Aurier fires it across goal but after a few deflections, it's safely swept away by David Pipe.

    Tottenham 2-0 Newport County

Victor Wanyama's header falls comfortably into the hands of Joe Day from another Spurs set-piece and this time the Newport keeper takes his time before releasing it.

  14. Postpublished at 56 mins

    Tottenham 2-0 Newport County

There's been some nice skill from Newport's Frank Nouble tonight. He flicks it through the legs of two Spurs defenders but it comes to no avail.

He also produced a nice move in the first half to beat Serge Aurier.

Erik Lamela curls the ball in from the corner but Joe Day comes out strongly to collect it. He kicks it immediately up towards Frank Nouble - but the Newport midfielder has nobody with him and his knock-on header goes straight back to Tottenham.

Day should have kept the ball then... he only invites further pressure.

For a moment, Padraig Amond thought he'd got in behind but he is pulled back for a push on Juan Foyth.

Scot Bennett brings the ball out from the defence but he has no other outlet than Padraig Amond who is all alone up front.

Bennett plays it hopefully down the wing but Tottenham get the ball back straight away and will put pressure on again.
