More from Everton manager Sam Allardyce: "We missed too many chances, that's the bottom line. And we let in two very simple goals. The first one is a simple ball, Ashley Williams and Michael Keane should deal with that easily.

"When Burnley haven't won in 11, you can imagine how tense they were but we have gifted the game to them.

"Burnley played the ball better than we did in the second half. We knew exactly what they do, we knew we had to deal with that but we didn't.

"No complaints with the red card, you can't do that. It was unprofessional from Ashley Williams.

"This is the most chances we have created away form home since I've been here but we still failed to score more than one. We have taken 17 points from eight games at home but we have put huge pressure on ourselves now."

  2. 'My problem to sort it out'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2018

    Burnley 2-1 Everton

    Everton

Everton manager Sam Allardyce on MOTD: "We lost it by not scoring the second goal when we had clear, clear opportunities. At least three in the first half.

"Burnley hadn't won in 11 and if we went 2-0 up it would have been hugely difficult for them.

"We gifted them a goal which lifted the spirits around the ground. And I always dislike conceding from a corner, it could be avoided.

"That's five away defeats on the trot. It's simply not good enough.

"Ashley Williams getting sent off sums our day up. It shouldn't happen, he's swung his arm and he's an experienced player.

"I feel worse than the fans - they won't believe this - but it's my responsibility. I go home and say to myself 'how do I put this right?' For me to see the players under perform in the second half is very disappointing for me. It's my problem to sort it out."

Burnley manager Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC MOTD: "I don't think it was anything to do with my 250th game. It was a fantastic performance. We have not been far off in a lot of these games (during the recent bad run). It was a thorough performance and winning one. Some quality moments in it, especially the pass from Lowton (for the Ashley Barnes goal). It was as good a pass as you will see.

"We have to be resilient because it is hard work for us in the Premier League. But that will and demand, the players here have underling honesty to what they want to achieve. They didn't go down after going behind and the second half response was excellent.

"I said at half time to the players that they had nothing to lose. At the break I didn't want to wait. I wanted to be proactive.

"We have more to do. We wanted to correct the run and we have done that. Hopefully that freedom in the second half is something we can carry on."

Do ANY Everton fans like Sam Allardyce at the moment?

Allardyce is to blame with his line ups costing us every game. Every fan wouldn’t have played Williams as he costs us a goal almost every game. Yet Sam continues to play him and lo and behold look what happens. No sympathy for board if they allow the manager to pick the wrong team week in week out.

  6. 'We deserved that'published at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2018

    Burnley 2-1 Everton

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche: "It's tough when you're on a run like this. We have deserved better in recent games so we wanted to bring freedom to our performance. We went 1-0 down but it didn't knock us.

"We were on the front foot, particularly from the second half. We are not shy on getting the ball in behind, I'm an advocate of mixed football. How many ways can you affect the defence? We get dumbed down at times but the pass from Matt Lowton is top class, as good as I've seen in a long time.

"We hadn't turned a 1-0 deficit down before, people remind you of those stats so this is good for the team. We deserved it today, there was no luck involved.

"Now that we have reached 40 points with nine games to go it's a marker of how far we have come in a short space of time."

Every cloud has a silver lining. At least Williams can't play for the next 3 games.

    Andy

Our club is rotten to the core sweeping changes needed. For the sake of their careers Pickford & Walcott need to leave this sinking ship of a club asap, both far too good for us.

    Chris

Doubt it would happen, but Sean Dyche would do a great job at Arsenal - would add the grit they need.

Burnley striker Ashley Barnes: "It was hard work, that win has been coming for a while. We knew if we could get the ball in behind their defence we would get chances, and it worked. The whole team worked well."

Chris Wood: "It's nice to come on and get a winner. Our performances have merited more in recent weeks. At half time the gaffer said just keep going, keep the confidence high and push on. If we got one goal, we knew we'd get two. We have hit 40 points which is one of our targets."

It has got to be ungentlemanly conduct? Aggression? He has swung his arm at Ashley Barnes. That is stupid. Wood has come on and thrown himself about a bit, Barnes is doing the same and Williams is not getting his own way. The frustration has got him there.

Martin's text lands at a prime time as Ashley Wiliams sees red! Madness from the captain. Ashley Barnes is marking him physically, and the Wales man swings an arm into his throat. It's not really a full-blown elbow but it's certainly a red card.

Ashley Williams is a joke of a player. I'll drive him anywhere he wants to go to get him away from Everton. And Sam Allardyce can hitch a ride in the back. An embarrassing and hopefully short lived chapter in our history.

The fans in the away end are far from happy once again. On comes Yannick Bolasie, can he inspire a comeback?

The replays of that second goal make painful viewing if you support the visitors. It even nutmegged Dominic Calvert-Lewin on the line.
