  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 50 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Southampton

Hector Bellerin with a professional foul - a tug back on Shane Long as the forward threatened to tear away from him down the line. The game's first card.

I get what you're saying, Mo, but I kind of think it's inevitable. Surely you'd support Egypt instead?

Mo Salad: If Danny Welbeck is anywhere near the England plane - even within earshot of it - I'm supporting Russia at the World Cup.

That was a great run by Alex Iwobi to draw the defender out and get the ball to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but what a save from Alex McCarthy to deny Granit Xhaka. It was a fantastic save, it really was.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 48 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Southampton

Wow, that is a really fine stop. Low and to his right, Alex McCarthy spills quickly to tip behind Granit Xhaka's fierce drive from range, which looked to be curling right into the corner.

And it was just moments after parrying away Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at his other post. Impressive work.

Southampton are still in this game - there will be chances for them. It's just down to the players now, and how much they want this, Mark Hughes can't do much more.

Tell you what, I'm just watching another replay of Arsenal's first goal and the flick assist from Danny Welbeck really is special. His goal wasn't bad either - powerful strike with a bit of a deflection.

Is Gareth Southgate here? Does he make the World Cup?

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could return after recovering from a hamstring injury as West Ham travel to Stamford Bridge to take on their London rivals.

Pedro is also hoping to return but both David Luiz and Ethan Ampadu are ruled out for the Blues.

West Ham could again be without midfielder Manuel Lanzini, who is a major doubt because of a knee injury.

Defender James Collins is also likely to miss out along with Michail Antonio but striker Javier Hernandez is available after overcoming an illness.

We'll bring you full team news as it drops.

  11. 'Saints dropped their intensity'published at 15:05 British Summer Time 8 April 2018

For most of the half Southampton's plan worked very well, they made it very tight, very compact, and they stopped Arsenal from playing the way they want to. But after Shane Long's goal they seemed to drop their intensity a little bit and that's when Arsenal were able to come back into the game.

  15. CLOSE!published at 45 mins

Alex McCarthy flaps at a corner and Calum Chambers side-foots the rebound on goal - cleared behind for another corner.

  16. 'Southampton must shut up shop'published at 14:59 British Summer Time 8 April 2018

    Arsenal 2-1 Southampton

    Nigel Reo-Coker
Former West Ham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

This is where Southampton have to manage the game, they should shut up shop for the half, and go into the break at 2-1. Obviously it's not where they want to be, but it could get a lot worse if they keep giving Arsenal all this space.

James Ward-Prowse snatches at a bouncing ball outside the box - one of those begging to be hit. Wide here, not a great connection.

Ricky Kelehar: Assist for Iwobi - leave the fella alone, he’s a kid learning his trade with all the attributes.

Mat: I re-iterate, if Arsenal could defend we would be lethal!

Sam Jamaa: Cruel deflection for Southampton. Harry Kane claims it.

That was great play by Arsenal, they used the ball well. Alex Iwobi had time to pick a pass, Danny Welbeck had space to run at the defence, and it's a great strike.
