  1. 'Beginning of the end for Alderweireld?'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

    George Cummins
BBC Radio 5 live at Wembley

Welcome to Wembley for Tottenham vs Watford.

It's another game where Toby Alderweireld hasn't made the starting 11.

He was a regular in the side before his injury back in November 2017. Since then he has only appeared three times, twice in the FA Cup and once in the league against Brighton.

His contract is due to expire in 2020 but he can leave for £25m in 2019. With that in mind should Spurs be playing him now to put him in the shop window for the summer?

  3. 'Kane has been below par'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

    Jonathan Pearce
BBC Match of the Day commentator

Tottenham need to erase that FA Cup semi-final defeat with a vital win in the chase for a Champions League place. There are too many rumours flying around about the future of the manager and key players. Early qualification can bring more definite planning.

Harry Kane needs to play his way back into full fitness and sharpness with England's World Cup opener just weeks away. He's looked well below par since his comeback.

Watford have looked jaded for weeks. Having 10 players out this season for two months or more hasn't helped. They haven't scored away in 638 minutes. I fear for the future of manager Gracia.

Tottenham should cruise to an eighth successive home league win against them here.

  4. 'Richarlison has played too much football'published at 19:38 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

    Jonathan Pearce
    BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

People say Richarlison’s form has dipped in the second half of this season, but he came to Watford straight off the back of a Brazilian league season with Fluminense. He’s played 62 league games on the bounce, he hasn’t stopped playing since January of last year.

Watford have had 10 players out for two months or more and that hasn’t helped them at all, and Richarlison had looked really jaded. This is a mental thing or than physical because this is a big demand on a 20-year-old boy. I think he’s played too much football.

Anthony: A Watford win would make the race for top four very interesting, bearing in mind that Liverpool are visiting Stamford bridge this weekend. And the Champions League fixture might have an impact on their recovery for the league encounter.

  6. 'Kane will stay but Alli might leave'published at 19:37 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

    Harry Redknapp
Ex-Tottenham manager on BBC Radio 5 live

I couldn’t see Harry Kane leaving, I would be very surprised if Harry Kane left. I think he loves it at Spurs, Dele Alli I’m not so sure. Great talent again, but he may be a boy that may look elsewhere if the opportunity came, if it was a big enough move. I’ve got a feeling he is going to be at Tottenham for many years.

  7. Hornets struggle on the roadpublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

The stats do stack up against Watford in terms of their success - or lack of - on the road this season.

They have one point from their last 10 league matches away from home.

And they have failed to score in their last seven away games in all competitions since Andre Gray's goal against Manchester City on 2 January.

To make matters worse, Watford have lost seven consecutive Premier League matches in London, conceding 20 goals, since their 2-1 victory at Arsenal on 31 January 2017.

Will they rip up the form book in Wembley tonight?

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
BBC football expert on Football Focus

Watford have inched their way to safety and I think they will be fine now with 38 points - you could not say they have done it in style, though, because they have not won for six matches.

I cannot see them ending that run on Monday night, either - Spurs will win at Wembley this time.

    Prediction: 2-0

Chris: Can people stop saying Watford have been useless and have nothing to play for please? Spurs need 3 points and history says that’s not guaranteed no matter who they’re playing. I remember the 5-1 against relegated Newcastle a few years ago.

Well said Chris. There's everything to play for...

  10. 'The players feel good'published at 19:27 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

Watford head coach Javi Gracia: "I think the players feel good and they are good players. These stadiums are the best opportunity to show our level and try to have a good performance.

"For sure, it can be a positive experience, but for us the most important thing is not where we play but trying to do good work and trying to get a good result wherever we play."

  11. 'Watford don't look bothered'published at 19:23 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Watford are having a shocking run of games at the minute. At what stage do they say to themselves 'We need to start putting a run of games together or at least a performance?'

A lot is being said by this team at the minute, and they must have a soft centre to them, a team you would look at and say 'there's a few warriors there, hard workers'.

They're not showing that, almost a sign of not being bothered which is having an effect on their results.

  13. Can Watford reproduce "best" performance?published at 19:19 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

It may not have been the result they hoped for, but Watford were encouraging in the first half of their 0-0 draw with Palace last week.

Manager Javi Gracia said their performance in the opening 45 minutes was "one of the best all season".

  14. Opposing scenariospublished at 19:16 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

While Watford are trying to stay in the Premier League, Tottenham are hoping to secure a spot in the top four and ensure they will play Champions League football next season.

A draw tonight is likely to be enough for Watford but they will mathematically secure safety with victory tonight as Swansea and Southampton are yet to play each other.

Tottenham will also give their Champions League hopes a huge boost with victory tonight as they would move five points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea and within one point of third-placed Liverpool with a game in hand.

  15. 'It disappointed me a lot'published at 19:13 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino on the FA's tweet mocking Harry Kane: "It was difficult to understand, very, very difficult. Of course they apologised about that. It disappointed me, the situation, the fact it happened. They apologised after a few days but we move on.

"Always from day one when I arrived in England I say we need to protect our assets, our English players, the young players. We need to give them belief, we need to teach them, to educate, and this type of situation disappointed me a lot."

  16. Kane tweet 'embarrassing'published at 19:10 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says a tweet sent from the FA Cup account mocking Harry Kane was "embarrassing".

The tweet was posted after Manchester United's 2-1 FA Cup semi-final victory over Spurs last weekend.

The message asked United and England defender Chris Smalling "What's in your pocket?" and included a short clip of him replying: "Harry Kane."

  17. 'Pochettino will bring trophies'published at 19:07 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

    Harry Redknapp
Ex-Tottenham manager on BBC Radio 5 live

I think Pochettino is fantastic, I think given time he will bring trophies to Tottenham, no doubt about that.

There will be people, whether it is back to Spain, if Real Madrid don’t win the Champions League or whatever.

You never know what is going to come up, so he’s always going to be wanted by big clubs because of the job he has done here. Tottenham will want to hold onto him he is the future of the club and will eventually build a club that will win major trophies.

Just the one change for Tottenham from the side that lost 2-1 against Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final on 21 April as Hugo Lloris replaces Michel Vorm in goal.

Danny Rose remains out with a groin injury that has seen him miss the past three matches.

Tottenham XI: Lloris, Trippier, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Heung-Min, Kane, Dier, Dembele, Alli, Eriksen, Davies

Javi Gracia makes three changes to the Watford starting 11 that began the goalless draw with Crystal Palace nine days ago.

Troy Deeney, who captained the Hornets in that match, drops to the bench. Roberto Pereyra misses out (groin), while Stefano Okaka is also not in the 18.

In come Andre Gray, Kiko Femenia and Richarlison, with Gerard Deulofeu on the bench after not playing since 24 February.

Watford XI: Karnezis, Mariappa, Richarlison, Cathcart, Doucoure, Gray, Hughes, Femenia, Holebas, Kabasele, Capoue

  20. Watford almost safe - but not yetpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham v Watford (20:00 BST)

Watford will also be hoping to improve on their last performance, which saw them draw 0-0 with Crystal Palace in a scrappy match littered with yellow cards - eight in total.

The Hornets are 13th, seven points clear of relegation with three games to go but one victory will be enough to see them secure safety.

After facing fourth-placed Tottenham tonight, Watford then play second-placed Manchester United, before playing their final home match against in-form Newcastle.

It's not an easy run-in and though you'd expect Watford to be safe, they would love to secure it with a win this evening.

But they are without a win in six games and have managed to pick up only two points from the last 18 on offer...
