  1. Is Aguero fully fit?published at 19:08 British Summer Time 10 April 2018

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

Plenty of eyebrows raised around Etihad Stadium that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has left Sergio Aguero on the bench as they chase at least three goals against Liverpool here tonight.

This may be a fitness issue, however, as there were still some doubts about whether he has fully recovered from a knee injury when he took his place on the bench against Manchester United.

Not a bad weapon to have, even as a substitute.

    Ian Wright
Former Arsenal & England striker on BBC Radio 5 live

We know City are remarkable going forward but what they have shown in the last two games is that if you have a go at them they are vulnerable.

I don’t think Liverpool are going to park the bus. I don’t think either team can keep a clean sheet.

Pep Guardiola says turning over such a deficit will be extremely difficult but by no means imposssible.

“Liverpool themselves won a UEFA Champions League trophy from the same position.”

He also says that in sport you have bad moments. “In these last two games we have had these moments and the opposition has scored goals.”

As we were sitting here setting up all the technical bits ahead of full commentary on BBC Radio 5live the PA system was in full rehearsal!

"This is our patch," is blasted, “this is our City”.

We can't talk about great comebacks without mentioning one of the greatest in the Champions League - the 2005 final.

Even Pep Guardiola's taken inspiration from how his side's opponents today turned that tie around.

Jon: Guardiola taking a leaf out of Gareth Southgate's book playing Kyle Walker at right centre back.

Sergio Aguero is obviously not fit enough. he would start, no doubt he brings goals. There must be a reason, obviously he is not fit enough.

Whatever team City puts out it is strong, Guardiola has a wonderful squad to pick from.

If Manchester City come up short tonight, Pep Guardiola can't be accused of not going for it.

He's named an incredibly attacking line-up, even by Manchester City's high quality attacking standards.

  13. Can Man City defy the odds?published at 18:38 British Summer Time 10 April 2018

Man City v Liverpool 0-3 agg (19:45 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

"Turning over such a deficit will be difficult but by no means impossible."

These are the words of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in his match notes as they try to over-turn Liverpool's 3-0 lead in the second leg of this Champions League quarter-final.

It will take all of City's attacking prowess to claw back that deficit but they have that quality - the doubts come when they are asked questions in defence and six goals conceded in their last two games against Liverpool and Manchester United strike an ominous note.

Not sure this one is set up as a goalless draw.

Bezaleel: Manchester City will have to play the game of their lives tonight. Unfortunately they are playing a team that knows what COMEBACK means and what it entails.

Anon: Even as a City fan, I know we can't overturn this, Liverpool would have to collapse, we needed a goal at Anfield. Could still be a good match though.

    Roma v Barcelona 1-4 agg (19:45 BST)

Manchester City are not the only team hoping to produce a stunning comeback in the Champions League tonight.

Roma host Barcelona having lost the first leg 4-1 at the Nou Camp.

"Why not believe until the end and hope we can achieve something unprecedented?" said Roma boss Eusebio di Francesco.

"It's a really tough ask, but we have the duty to try."

Fair point. Although, as ever with Barcelona, the performance of the man below will have a big say on Roma's chances of an upset.

I'm quite surprised by the optimism of a few people in the office regarding Manchester City's chances tonight. I can't help but feel that failing to grab an away goal will prove crucial but others I've spoken to are pretty convinced City will stage one of the great comebacks to progress.

So what do you think? Can you see a Manchester City comeback or do you think Liverpool have done enough already to secure their place in the semi-finals?

    Stephen Warnock
    Ex-Liverpool defender at Etihad Stadium

I feel that Manchester City will score first and it will be tough for Liverpool at the start, but then I think Liverpool will score on the break. That will deflate City and even though I feel Manchester City will win on the night, Liverpool go through on aggregate.
