Asked whether tonight's result may ease some of the pressure from fans, Leicester manager Claude Puel said: "No comment. It is not my concern, it was just a win for the players and they wanted to give a reward to the fans. Congratulations to my players because they put in place all of the good ingredients to win the game."

In tribute to Arsene Wenger, Puel said: "He can win his last game with Arsenal and I would like to give him my congratulations for all of his great work with the club. He was fantastic over 22 years and we cannot replace him."

Leicester manager Claude Puel said: "Firstly the performance was important today because we wanted to make amends after the last game. We showed the difference when we have desire and conviction in our play. It was important for our last game at home to give our fans a good reward for their support all season."

Asked about the Konstantinos Mavropanos sending off, Puel said: "I think for once we had a decision go for us. In our last game we had a lot of harsh decisions against us, but it wasn't just down to that one decision because we started this game with good quality and speed in our play."

Speaking to Sky Sports about news of Sir Alex Ferguson coming out of intensive care, Arsene Wenger said: "It is very fantastic news and I'm very happy for that. It was a concern because he has worked very hard and he deserves a long period of enjoying life, and hopefully he can do that in good shape."

Brighton boss Chris Hughton has just been asked where he thought this Manchester City side rank compared to other successful teams he has faced in his 40 years as a player, coach and manager.

“Probably only time will tell,” Hughton said. “They are, I think, the best footballing side that I have seen, certainly in the Premier League, and they just have an abundance and a way of playing.

“The biggest asset of their game is their pace and intensity, and that is both ways.

"They have quality players and sometimes when you have gifted players they might not be so good without the ball but this is a team that when they lose possession, even the gifted players that they have work hard to get the ball back."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: "Overall I believe we played a great game today. Even with 10 against 11 we should win the game. I'm convinced what changed the game was the penalty. I have complaints about the red card as well but I think we dealt well with the situation. I would like to praise the team for the spirit they showed tonight."

"There is always a reason for the defeat, but if you isolate each game, it is unfortunate what happened tonight. I think the Premier League has voted against VAR and it is upsetting. It destroys me because we were in front of the rest of the world, and now we want to be behind."

Asked whether it has sunk in that he will be leaving this summer, Wenger replied: "Yes, slowly, the last three or four weeks have been step-by-step so you have time to adjust. I realise it now. It was very nice to hear applause from both sets of fans and I’m very grateful for that."

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to BBC Sport: "It is a massive achievement to qualify again. I want to congratulate the players. I also want to congratulate all the staff. It is a massive effort. 38 games away from home is a huge effort. Next season it will be fantastic for Tottenham to be playing in a new stadium and in the Champions League.

"The pressure was for us and maybe it was not a great game. But to finish in the top four and maybe top three, we have to be realistic and be thankful to the players for their achievement.

"We play a team that were playing for nothing and so deep and sometimes it is difficult to have patience to play and build and to try to win."

Huddersfield boss David Wagner to MOTD: "This is an unbelievable achievement. We have a further season in the Premier League. Everyone knows the circumstances that our club compete with these top clubs. For sure, we had our luck, for sure, Chelsea were the better team. We stole a point but we needed it.

"The dressing room has shown such togetherness all season, they always believed that in football the impossible is possible and we have done it. We didn't have to rely on other teams, we have done it on our own.

"Nobody expected it apart from us. We expected to work our socks off and to show the spirit, the desire, the passion and the hunger and we got our reward. This is exaclty what we ask of ourselves. We know that our opponents have more individual quality so you have to find a solution.

"We have improved over the season. We love games like this, we knew what we needed, a point. We were only in the bottom three once all season."

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy said: "Ahead of the game, we wanted to make sure we were passing the ball forward instead of keeping it at the back, and we have done that tonight. It was important to take some momentum into next season and it was our first win against Arsenal since our return to the Premier League. The last penalty I took against Cech, I went the other way, so I thought I would change it up."

Asked about the supporters' criticism of Claude Puel, Vardy said: "We have got to look at ourselves and the way we have been playing, and it hasn’t been good enough. He wants us to move the ball quicker and we did that tonight.

It takes him a while... then it's time for Yaya to do a lap of honour, and his turn to applaud the crowd, who are still singing his name.

Kyle: Newcastle were brilliant tonight. We defended superbly and limited the Spurs chances and created plenty of chances to. We should have had a penalty as well and we definitely didn't deserve to lose tonight.
