Stoke City's 10-year spell in the top flight came to an end after a 2-1 home defeat by Crystal Palace on 5 May, while West Bromwich Albion joined them on 8 May after Southampton's 1-0 win at Swansea.

The final place is between Swansea, Huddersfield and Southampton. The Swans must win their final game to have any hope of staying up - while Huddersfield just need one more point from their last two games to secure safety. Southampton's goal difference means in any event, Swansea would need a nine-goal swing on the final day to catch them.

So a point tonight would do it for Town...

  3. What if Liverpool win the CL?published at 18:39 British Summer Time 9 May 2018

Liverpool will face Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday, 26 May and the winners will automatically qualify for next season's Champions League group stage.

If Liverpool win the final and finish in the top four of the Premier League, England will still only have four teams in next season's Champions League, with the Reds' spot for winning the tournament handed to the champions of the Czech Republic's top division.

If Liverpool win the final and finish outside the top four, there will be five English teams in next season's Champions League - the top four in the Premier League plus Liverpool would all go straight into the group stage.

The top four in the Premier League will qualify for the group stage of next season's Champions League.

Champions Manchester City and second-placed Manchester United are the only two teams to have done so already.

Following Liverpool's defeat at Chelsea last Sunday, Jurgen Klopp's side need to beat Brighton on the final day to secure their place in next season's Champions League.

Tottenham are fourth, two points clear of Chelsea, and still have Newcastle and Leicester to play.

Chelsea have games remaining against Huddersfield and Newcastle, and are relying on Liverpool or Tottenham dropping points.

As Manchester City prepare to say farewell to a legend tonight, there are still several teams hoping to not have to say goodbye at all just yet.

And at the other end of the table Chelsea, along with Spurs and LIverpool, still have hopes of playing Champions League football next season.
