No prizes for guessing who is on the front of tonight's programme at Etihad Stadium... and yes, he is definitely on the team sheet (as captain) too, making his first Premier League start of the season.

Inside, Pep Guardiola pays tribute to the Ivorian and writes: "At tonight's game we will give him what he deserves, one of the most beautiful farewells a player can receive.

"All through the game, we will be focused on winning for Yaya. We are going to try to do it for him and I am sure our fans will join in and show him the love and respect that he deserves."

Andy: Poch starts Sissoko... He knows it's a must win game right?!?

Gerard: Tactical genius by Poch. Normally Sissoko passes straight to the other team. But because Newcastle are his old team, he will pass to us instead. Inspired.

  12. Farewell Yaya: "I support City because of him"published at 19:38 British Summer Time 9 May 2018

Over the past eight years, some younger City fans have grown up watching Yaya Toure play in midfield - they are the lucky ones, I guess, because they don't have any memories of Jamie Pollock.

Yaya has been so good, some fans - like Lucca from Nottingham (above) - actually decided to support City because of him, much to the dismay of his dad who tried to make him a Nottingham Forest fan, but failed.

"He is such an all-round brilliant player," said Lucca, explaining his choice. "I'd love to see him back at City as a coach one day."

He says he is going to carry on playing and the chat is that he wants to stay in England - Burnley?

It's a big night for Yaya Toure - and it could be a wet one too if the rain continues - but it looks like he is going to get a proper send off judging from the way the fans I spoke to outside the ground feel about him leaving.

Steve and his son Finlay, who have travelled down from Scotland tonight, are both massive fans of the Ivorian with Steve explaining: "He has been an absolute stalwart for the club.

"He has been absolutely sensational when it matters, scoring some critical goals and being an absolute powerhouse in midfield. We will miss him big-time."

Finlay added: "He is a real engine. It is just amazing how good he has been for us."

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to Sky Sports:

"We have two games to play and we try to finish good against teams that are already safe. Always the records and the titles are a consequence of our performance.

"We’re going to try and play like we have all season.

"Hopefully we can do a good game and make a victory for Yaya [Toure]. He deserves our respect and credit because he did many, many good things."

Yaya Toure turns 35 on Sunday - some of the scarf sellers I spoke to outside the ground said they didn't have any merchandise with his picture on it but they were thinking of bringing some birthday cakes to flog instead.

As he approaches veteran status, is it the right time for him to leave the club? Not according to City fan Martin from Manchester, who is at the game with his grandson Freddy.

"He will be a massive miss, not only on the pitch but in the changing room and on the training ground as well," said Martin. "All the young players will look up to him massively.

"I am sorry to see him go, but he has been a great servant and one of the best City have had for a long, long time. He has always been a great ambassador for the club and a leader on the field."

Antonio Conte was in a position of strength at the start of the season but he didn't sign an extension on his deal. He just agreed more money. If he wanted to stay at Chelsea why didn't he push for an extension on his contract? I think the writing has been on the wall for a while.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton speaking to Sky Sports:

"We certainly wanted to try and get over the line before these last two games which are as tough games as you can have in any season [Brighton face Liverpool on Sunday]."

    Weakened City?

"For every player that comes in for them it’s a chance for them to do well, stake a claim, impress the manager. I don’t think there’s a Man City player that can’t play the way Pep Guardiola wants them to."

Pep Guardiola makes wholesale changes to the Manchester City team that drew with Huddersfield on Sunday. Eight in fact.

There is of course a place for Yaya Toure playing in his last game for City at the Etihad but there are also starts for Claudio Bravo, Danilo, Vincent Kompany, Aymeric Laporte, Ilkay Gundogan, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Bernardo Silva. Not a bad second string!

Manchester City XI: Bravo, Danilo, Kompany, Laporte, Zinchenko, Toure, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Sane, Jesus, B.Silva

    Brighton XIImage source, BBC Sport

Just the one change from Chris Hughton for Brighton thankfully - with Leonardo Ulloa in to replace fellow forward Glenn Murray, who starts from the bench.

Brighton XI: Ryan, Bruno, Dunk, Duffy, Bong, Gross, Stephens, Propper, Izquierdo, Ulloa, Knockaert
