That's full-time for this live text commentary - it's time to start focusing on today's other two games.

Morocco v Iran, I have already mentioned - and later on, we've got Spain v Portugal on BBC One. How will Spain cope after sacking Julen Lopetegui? Kick off is 19:00 BST, and coverage with Gary Lineker and the team starts at 18:20.

Thanks for your company and comments today. I leave you with three pieces around the BBC Sport website that are definitely worth a look.

I mentioned Richard Conway's tip-off at half-time that Nigeria fans have been banned from taking chickens to matches - the full story is here.

Read the story of Lev Yashin, the man who reinvented goalkeeping - and who adorns the official poster for the 2018 World Cup.

And pick your all-time African World Cup XI. Who do you leave out?

    Bye for now.

  2. Man of the match - your verdictpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 15 June 2018

    FT: Egypt 0-1 Uruguay

Our Player Rater has just closed, and your verdict is in. Uruguay captain Diego Godin is your man of the match with an average of 7.68 - and I have no argument with that choice whatsoever.

Luis Suarez got the lowest mark - with an average of 3.42. Egypt's highest rater was goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy, who had a fine game and was unlucky to be on the losing side. Their lowest rater was new Huddersfied signing Ramadan Sobhi on 5.24. He was only on for eight minutes, but Egypt lost a lot of their zip after he came on.

  3. Seventh time luckypublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 15 June 2018

    Egypt 0-1 Uruguay

Uruguay's late winner means they have won their World Cup opener for the first time since 1970 when they beat Israel 2-0 (since then they have lost three and drawn two).

    Morocco v Iran (16:00 BST)

The group stage of the World Cup is the best bit, I always think, because the games just keep on coming at you.

How about a contest between the former manager of Cambridge United and the former manager of Real Madrid? Yep, build-up is under way for the match between Herve Renard's Morocco and Carlos Queiroz's Iran.

Has Nottingham Forest midfielder Ashkan Dejagah made the Iran starting line-up? Jack Skelton has all the answers.

Dan: Is it just me or does the grass seem to be a bit too long or thick? The ball looks like it's moving very slowly.

Shaun: This pitch reminds me of Liverpool away games... slow and stopping good teams play quick football.I hope this isn't the blueprint for Russia to equalise things.

Anon: Two games down - anybody else think the pitches are slow. No players have been able to carry the ball at pace.

Time to get the lawnmower out in Ekaterinburg maybe?

This is the poorest I have seem Luis Suarez play for a long time; he will have to improve. Edinson Cavani was excellent today, Suarez was not.

Richard: Sadly for Egypt football is a game of 90 minutes and they collapsed right at the end. Credit to Uruguay for taking the chance.

CelebCelery: That final non-Salah Egypt substitution seemed to suck the belief out of them and inspire Uruguay - who deserved to win on chances created.

Sorry to see the result, Uruguay scored against the run of play; there was nothing really created by them. Egypt now have an uphill task getting out the group.

    FT: Egypt 0-1 Uruguay

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Uruguay's two best players were the centre-halves, Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez. Not only were they solid defensively, they were breaking forward to try to make things happen.

Ross: That must be gutting for Egypt. They've been the best team and had no cutting edge. If only they had a proven goalscorer on the bench.

Sho: The decision to not put on Salah looking very bad now.

Sweet way to win, but a tough, tough way to lose. Luis Suarez didn't really get going. In the end, he didn't need to.
