There's not many teams that play 4-4-2 in international football, the extra man normally looks to drop into midfield to help out. But with Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez, Uruguay have got two strikers who like to play higher up the field.

Saudi Arabia really having trouble. The Saudi Arabia full-backs don't know whether to go inside and it needs communication between the full-back and the winger. That is twice Uruguay have got down the side on either flank.

    Uruguay 0-0 Saudi Arabia

Uruguay are getting some joy down the flanks.

This time former Manchester United man Guillermo Varela is on his skates down the right, cutting the ball back into the path of Luis Suarez.

The Barcelona forward gets a shot off from the angle, which takes a nick off a Saudi Arabia defender and lands into the side-netting.

The referee, with the help of his official plus the VAR team, conspire to award a goal-kick.

    Unbelievable.

Edinson Cavani looked really sharp against Egypt - he looked fresh, looked good linking up with his team-mates and he had some good shots on goal. It looks like he's carried on that form today.

Leigh Eccleston: Cavani & Suarez need to wake up and start scoring or Uruguay could be in some unwanted bother in the last round of games.

  8. CLOSE!published at 13 mins

    Uruguay 0-0 Saudi Arabia

Uruguay have been on the back foot but show how dangerous they can be on the counter.

Martin Caceres, who has been around for years, gallops down the left with his man-bun and pulls the ball back into the area for Edinson Cavani, but the PSG striker lashes a first-time left-footed strike high and wide.

    Uruguay 0-0 Saudi Arabia

    Phil Neville
Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC One

Uruguay are a team who look to dig out results rather than play amazing, scintillating football. They're quite Atletico Madrid-like in the way they set up, they play a 4-4-2 and they rely heavily on their two forward players.

Saudi Arabia spreading the ball around nicely and are pegging Uruguay back.

    Lots of possession, little penetration.

Saudi Arabia have actually started this game very brightly. They had a quick corner that Uruguay weren't prepared for there, but the ball in just lacked quality.

Mohammed Alburayk is the man who steps up for the free-kick, but his effort from a two-step run-up comes off the wall.

From the corner, Salman Alfaraj whips the ball straight into the graps of Fernando Muslera.

    A poor delivery.

Saudi Arabia have made more of the running in this opening period, but can they keep it going?

    Uruguay 0-0 Saudi Arabia

    Stephen Warnock

Saudi Arabia are going to have to try and sit deep to try and make it difficult for them to get through. We expect a lot of goals.

Now then. Saudi Arabia have a free-kick on the edge of the box after Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino brings down Hatan Bahbri.

    Uruguay 0-0 Saudi Arabia

    Phil Neville
Former England & Man Utd defender on BBC One

Both teams will want to improve today, but Saudi Arabia in particular will want to improve, they had a lot of possession, but didn't even take a shot on target.

I think Uruguay lacked width in their first game and it meant Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani were forced wide, and you want those two in the middle, getting onto the crosses.

Saudi Arabia have started brightly though, they have got down the right a couple of times now but Fahad Almuwallad's cross is straight into the hands of Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, who is winning his 99th cap today.

    Uruguay 0-0 Saudi Arabia

    Didier Drogba
Phoenix Rising and former Ivory Coast striker on BBC One

I think Uruguay will win comfortably. From what I saw from Saudi Arabia against Russia - I can't see them troubling Uruguay today, they sit too deep and I can't even see them scoring.

  19. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Uruguay 0-0 Saudi Arabia

Luis Suarez signalling his intent already, smashing a shot from the edge of the box from Cristian Rodriguez's knockdown which is brilliantly blocked by Saudi Arabia defender Ali Albulayhi.

He will need to make plenty more of those in this match.
