  3. No target to hit...published at 18:02 British Summer Time 16 June 2018

    Peru 0-0 Denmark

You can kind of see what Rio Ferdinand is saying by looking at the touch map of Denmark striker Nicolai Jorgensen. He's had 13 touches, 12 of them in the Peru half. As you can see though, nothing in the area or threatening areas. He's grafting to get some ball but has seen less of it than anyone.

  4. 'Denmark haven't showed any creativity'published at 18:00 British Summer Time 16 June 2018

    HT: Peru 0-0 Denmark

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

I have been terribly disappointed with the Danish team. They haven't showed any creativity and Eriksen hasn't got on the ball enough. In his defence, he is a player that thrives off others' movement off the ball but he hasn't had any targets to hit.

Elliot: Does Cueva want a new profession? Pretty sure the England rugby team could do with a new kicker in South Africa right now.

  8. Gareca's a dead ringer...published at 17:55 British Summer Time 16 June 2018

  9. The numbers...published at 17:54 British Summer Time 16 June 2018

    Peru 0-0 Denmark

Here are the half-time stats. Not a great deal in it. Denmark seeing more ball but Peru generally more dynamic with it. My word though, that penalty miss could be so, so key. What a way to let your opponents off.

    HT: Peru 0-0 Denmark

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

It was a clear and obvious penalty and the Gambian referee made the right decision. But the penalty is still traveling now. He has been the player they have looked to in terms of creativity but his run-up was all wrong. But Messi missed a penalty earlier today and it happens to the best.

By my reckoning, that's four matches in a row which have seen a penalty. Is that the Video Assistant Referee impact?

    Michael O'Neill
Northern Ireland manager on BBC Radio 5 live

A poor penalty. He checks, does a stutter with his feet. It is a couple of yards over the bar to be honest. It would have been harsh on Denmark but Peru have been the better team.

It was a good decision from the referee who did everything right. But it's an absolute shocker from Cueva. He gets his technique horribly wrong and skies it over the bar.

What drama we have. Christian Cueva had the chance to end the first half in dream style and he's basically produced a carbon copy of the infamous Roberto Baggio penalty of 1994.

    Right footer, high and over.

What a chance to change this game.

Not for the first time today the referee said no but the good old VAR said yes.

It was Yussuf Poulsen on Christian Cueva. The Dane fell for a drag back and swept the Peru player's back leg away.
