  1. Lawro's Predictionpublished at 19:21 British Summer Time 16 June 2018

    Croatia v Nigeria (20:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    Former Liverpool defender

Croatia play on the front foot but they are solid as well as skilful and I think they will be too strong for Nigeria.

John Mikel Obi, who now plays in China, is probably Nigeria's best player and their hopes of making it out of the group rest largely on his shoulders.

    Prediction:1-0

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has made the Super Eagles fans very happy with his team selection. Etebo was the man they wanted in midfield ahead of Onazi who is experienced but was poor v England.

Good to see Balugon at the back too. He missed training with an injury on Thursday so was a major doubt. He’s got an excellent partnership going with Troost-Ekong. They’ll need to be at their best tonight.

    Croatia v Nigeria (20:00 BST)

Croatia field an experienced quartet: Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Ivan Perisic and striker Mario Mandzukic.

Ivan Strinic, who joined AC Milan this summer, starts at left-back.

Former Watford striker Odion Ighalo leads a strong Nigeria attack, with Alex Iwobi, Jon Obi Mikel and Victor Moses slotted in behind him. Defender Leon Balogun missed the final session of training but makes the starting XI.

Anyway, here's a gibbon* - who lives in a zoo in Zagreb - having a go at predicting who will win between Croatia and Nigeria.

What if it's a draw pal? Didn't think that one through eh?

Poulsen slots home to give Denmark the lead

It's all over in the Group C encounter between Peru and Denmark.

The Danes have won 1-0 thanks to Yussuf Poulsen's low finish from Christian Eriksen's pass.

Peru missed a pen - a truly terrible effort from Christian Cueva. That, after VAR helped him out.

Hello to wherever you are in the world.

    • Seven down
    • 57 to go
    • 19 goals
    • One hat-trick
    • Three stunning strikes
    • A Messi missed penalty
    • And Maradona chugging on a cigar

    Enjoying it so far?

I take that as a "yes".

Spotted a winner from the teams you've watched?

    Perhaps not yet.

Here are a couple of countries that could surprise - not so much that they will win the tournament, but that they have a good chance of progressing quite far.

In the red and white checkerboard shirts we have Croatia - their golden generation are slowly turning a burnt sticky toffee pudding, but they still have enough punch through Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic, Ivan Perisic and Mario Mandzukic to knock over the best at this tournament.

In the very popular green and white down arrows shirts, with black and white down arrows sleeves, we have Nigeria.

They have attacking players of a fine pedigree: Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Odion Ighalo and Kelechi Iheanacho.

With Argentina only managing a draw, a win for either side would put them in a great position in Group D. But you knew that.

Team news and live text coming up, and you can listen to the match on BBC Radio 5 live.
