Lotak: Tom, I think you meant "parallel", rather than "perpendicular". I think you need to go back to GCSE maths!

You are 100% right. I haven't done any maths since the World Cup of 2002 and it shows.

I've got to say, the referee in this match has been brilliant. He has allowed play to flow and hasn't put a foot wrong

I don't think Denmark have been ultra, ultra-defensive. They are just not very good.

That's a touch harsh. They are decent but a bit limited.

Aaron: Let's stop knocking on defensively astute teams. It's NOT the most exciting way to win a game but it is a way to win.

    Croatia 1-1 Denmark

Croatia's equaliser came from one of the worst crosses you will ever see - Sime Vrsaljko toe-bunged his ball perpendicular to the goal. It was a horrible ball in, but Henrik Dalsgaard smashed the ball into the face of Andreas Christensen and Mario Mandzukic then miscued the ball home.

A comedy of errors. More like a tragedy for the Kings of Denmark.

  7. 'Eriksen has been anonymous'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 1 July 2018

Modric has been the brightest spark in midfield but Eriksen has been anonymous. He is being marked by Brozovic and they have done a job on him, but Croatia haven't got on the ball and been fluid enough as a team.

After the excitement of the Russia v Spain game, we thought we were going to get somewhere with those two early goals, but it has just fallen back into a pattern. The biggest disappointment is that Croatia have been slightly under par.

    Croatia 1-1 Denmark

    Paul Fletcher
BBC Sport at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium

Warm applause from the crowd at the end of a half that started with a bang but eventually found more of an expected rhythm. Croatia probing, trying to expose weakness in a well-drilled defence. Denmark more direct, less inventive.

Both coaches looked pretty deep in thought as they disappeared down the tunnel.

Luka Modric has been very deep so far for long periods. Finding space, yes, but hurting the opposition?

Ben Aitkenhead: Boring, dull, defensive organization, anti football having a good day today. Russia parked every bus - a joke. Danes a cure for insomnia.

Not high in quality, to be honest. A crazy, chaotic start but both sides are cancelling each other out. If Croatia can kick it on a gear this game is there for the taking.

You want the better teams in the latter stages of the World Cup. That list does not include Denmark.

A moment of magic or a gaffe, that's what this game needs. Almost at half time, and barista connoisseur Ivan Rakitic strokes a soft shot straight at Kasper Schmeichel.

    Croatia 1-1 Denmark

Another long throw opportunity for the Danes... that's massive, beyond the far post and volleyed clear. Christian Eriksen then dinks in a neat cross from the right and it almost ends up as a super fluke, hitting the apex of post and bar and away!

    Croatia 1-1 Denmark

That's a great chance! Luka Modric leans back and lazily lofts a lovely free-kick right into the goalmouth, Dejan Lovren gives it the minimal flick on and it skims the post and goes wide!

    Huge chance.

  18. 'Croatia have created extremely little'published at 19:37 British Summer Time 1 July 2018

Croatia are not exactly running out of ideas, but they have realised they are playing against a defence which is very well-drilled. Apart from the goal, which was fortunate, they have created extremely little.

    Croatia 1-1 Denmark

I'm going to come right out and say it - Croatia are a better side than Denmark.

That has no impact on the result tonight of course, but the Danes look limited. Can Croatia turn their superiority into a win though?

The winners face Russia in Sochi next Saturday.
