    Sweden 0-1 England

Yes, Sweden can pose a threat! What a fine save that is when needed from Jordan Pickford! Marcus Berg gets above Ashley Young and thumps in a decent header and Pickford has to fly to his left and make a big, one-handed save!

Sweden's limited gameplan needs a tweak if they are to stay in the tournament. If you play like that you have to take the lead really. Can they go from conserve to control?

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

I want to see England look after the ball a bit more and I want to see them up the tempo. I know they're winning. but if you come off the pace you invite teams on.

Sweden haven't offered anything and they have been as bad as what we have seen in this tournament so far.

Former Sweden midfielder Jesper Blomqvist, speaking to BBC Sport: "As long as it is 1-0, Sweden have a chance. I thought we started well and slowed down the tempo and didn't give England much pace. Now we have a bit of an uphill task and England have started to increase the pace."

Sterling is losing value. We need strikers who don't dither. Someone get Welbeck on for him before we regret it. Please!

  15. 'What have Sweden got?'published at 15:53 British Summer Time 7 July 2018

    Sweden 0-1 England

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer in Samara

Raheem Sterling is showing all the classic signs of a player lacking confidence. He was putting chances away with a lot more comfort at Manchester City last season but looks tentative and lacking in self-belief for England.

England ended that half well on top and it is up to Sweden to show what they have got.

    Sweden 0-1 England

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

I've been very impressed. We're creating chances and getting balls into the box after reluctantly doing that first in the first 15 minutes. I have seen nothing from Sweden that should worry us.

It was a magnificent header by Harry Maguire. If Sweden are going to play a high line then they are going to concede chances. They're playing into England's hands.

John: Raheem “Dear oh Dear” Sterling. That’s his name now.

T-Finn Kelcey: Sterling hasn’t been great till now, but credit to him for a really good half.

Richard: Boring game, as predicted. Two defensive teams, as predicted. Goal from a set piece, as predicted. Game should be out of sight for ENG but Sterling is missing sitters, as predicted.

  20. 'Up to Sterling to create space'published at 15:50 British Summer Time 7 July 2018

    Sweden 0-1 England

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

We look like we are going to score from every set-piece but we don't create a lot from general play. With Raheem Sterling playing up front, Dele Alli and Jesse Lingard don't make runs and they look scared to get beyond.

It's up to Sterling to stretch the play and create space for Lingard and Alli to run into.
