  1. goal

GOAL - France 1-0 Belgiumpublished at 52 mins

    Samuel Umtiti

It's a simple old game. Load up the area and score from a corner, it's good enough for League Two and the World Cup semi-final.

Antoine Griezmann curls in the delivery, left-footed to the near post and Samuel Umtiti gets there, flicking in off the very apex of Marouane Fellaini's hair.

Are France heading to the final?

A few of you have asked which players are a booking away from missing the final.

    The answer is NONE.

    Danny Murphy
    Former England midfielder

Romelu Lukaku should have done better. Great cross by Axel Witsel, and he beats the first man, but Lukaku can't direct his header on target.

We didn't see much of in the first half but there he is, Nacer Chadli gets the ball in quicker and it suits the big man, who wrestles with Raphael Varane and flashes a header over the top. Big thumbs up from the number nine.

Sharp as a tack, Belgium come out flying, Kevin de Bruyne too quick and strong for Blaise Matuidi and only a desperate challenge stops him from getting a shot away inside 20 seconds.

A goalscoring, ball-playing centre-half joking about his nickname being 'slabhead' and talking about having plenty of tea with the rest of his mates from Yorkshire.

Who would have thought we'd be loving Harry Maguire so much at this World Cup? He's no John Terry, that's for sure.

Joey: Can we have more red cards and injuries in the 2nd half please? Oh and extra time and a gruelling penalty shoot out would be nice?

Sreejay: With that goalless half, I'm thinking France will start better in the second half. I still expect Belgium to shade it in normal time!

David: Lukaku must be getting frustrated with Hazard holding on to the ball and trying to win the game all by himself.

Only England v Tunisia (12) had more shots in the first half than France v Belgium (11) at this World Cup.

Olivier Giroud had a huge opportunity and he had to sprint into the space there but he showed a slight hesitation.

Kylian Mbappe is just so quick. Whatever they are feeding him, I want some of it.

There is a good conenction between him and Paul Pogba, whenever the Manchester United man gets the ball, Mbappe is on his bike.

    'Fantastic' Lloris save denies Alderweireld

You want your goalkeepers to be big and both of these have been.

Hugo Lloris made a huge save to deny Toby Alderweireld.

The two number nines - Romelu Lukaku and Olivier Giroud - are not in the game, I am not sure Giroud believes in himself at the moment.

World Cup 2018: Stinging Eden Hazard shot deflected just over for Belgium against France

Eden Hazard has been the best player on the park and he has got into some dangerous positions for Belgium. He is so tricky and he gets away from his marker with ease. When he did get his chance it was decent defending by Raphael Varane, but he is so unpredictable because he can go both ways.

  16. 'Crowded out Hazard'published at 19:51 British Summer Time 10 July 2018

    France 0-0 Belgium

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live

The French started very well, but when the Belgians got a foothold in the game they looked very good. For a while it confused the life out of the French, but in the last 10 minutes the French have crowded out Eden Hazard.

  17. 'Cancelling each other out'published at 19:50 British Summer Time 10 July 2018

    France 0-0 Belgium

    Dion Dublin
Ex-Aston Villa striker on BBC Radio 5 live

I was expecting goals, but both goalkeepers have had to make a save from shots that were going in. Both sides have had one good chance each, but they are cancelling each other out at the moment.

Hazard can make the difference, him and De Bruyne don't really have a position, they are playing where they want.

  18. Mbappe the outletpublished at 19:50 British Summer Time 10 July 2018

    France 0-0 Belgium

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

There is nothing in it. I could not call the game before and I am none the wiser now.

France are looking to a 19-year-old, it is amazing. They drop back into a block and it is very conservative from Didier Deschamps, and then look to Kylian Mbappe as the outlet.
