37,000 Sky Blues fans have made their way from Coventry and all over the world to be a part of what could be a historic day for the Sky Blues. 1987 was the last time any Sky Blues fan can remember feeling anything like this.

Mark Robins has bonded this team together - I've never seen a Coventry City team play quite like this.

There are more nerves around than the EFL Trophy last season. We're ready for the ninth minute, when there will be a tribute to show what Cyrille Regis meant to the club. If the players can channel his spirit, they'll be alright.

Coventry are looking to seal an immediate return to League One this afternoon and how about this for a stat?

This season they finished sixth in their first campaign in the fourth tier since 1958-59 and it is the first time the Sky Blues have sealed a top-six finish since 1970.

"We are one step away but you don't want to tempt fate," boss Mark Robins told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

"The connection between the supporters and the players is as good as I have seen anywhere and that makes for a great combination. The shift around from when I came in the door is immeasurable."

It's still predominantly a sea of blue and white on Wembley Way as we lead up to kick-off. The Exeter City fans are starting to arrive but they're definitely outnumbered by the Coventry fans.

Exeter will be hoping to learn lessons from their defeat in the play-off final last year, when they didn't really get into gear against Blackpool.

We touched on it earlier but, a reminder. Today marks the final day of the 2017-18 English Football League season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cardiff City, Fulham, Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers, Rotherham United, Accrington Stanley, Luton Town, Wycombe Wanderers.

Who's going to join this promotion club from League Two this season? It's been a long, long time since Coventry have taken a bite of the promotion cherry.

  6. 'The most important game in Coventry City history'published at 14:15 British Summer Time 28 May 2018

People will point to the FA Cup final win over Spurs in 1987 and last season's EFL Trophy Final and say this is similar. Both were great days out, but today's game could not be any more important.

This is the most important game in Coventry City's history since Jimmy Hill took them to top flight. This is the start of the way back up - to get into League One and then prepare for even more hard work.

I think every Sky Blues fan is feeling really confident and what's given them that confidence is the way they played against Notts County. Exeter play good football, but the pitch at Wembley will suit Coventry down to the ground, because they're a great football side.

Exeter City return to Wembley today a year on from losing to Blackpool in the League Two play-off final.

Boss Paul Tisdale, who is now the longest-serving manager in the top four tiers following Arsene Wenger's departure from Arsenal, says the Grecians can use last year's defeat to their benefit.

"[We have] experience of the build-up, the logistics, the preparations and what it felt like to lose," Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon.

"Don't forget we've been there before in the Conference days, winning one and losing one, so we've got the full spectrum of emotions.

"It will boil down to a point where you can say to the players 'just play your best'."

It’s been a long weekend for merchandise sellers on Wembley Way.

With the future of football programmes seemingly under threat, maybe a match scarf will be one of the last traditions to remain in our game.

Don’t get me started on the half-and-half scarves though!

Coventry City will wear a one-off shirt at Wembley today and it's for a pretty unusual reason.

You see, it turns out the Sky Blues have run out of their 2017-18 season kit so the club commissioned a limited edition shirt just for today.

"This will not be the kit for the 2018-19 season, so we hope it will be a unique shirt for the club and fans," chief executive Dave Boddy said.

The one-off kit is similar to that worn by Coventry when they beat Tottenham in the 1987 FA Cup final.

Can a change of kit spur them on to victory this afternoon?

And now, the end is near, and so we face, the final curtain.

Frank Sinatra sang that line at the beginning of his timeless 1969 hit 'My Way' and in my opinion as a humble broadcast journalist, it neatly sums up today as we approach the end of the EFL season.

What began for Coventry with a 3-0 win against Notts County, and Exeter with a 1-0 win at Cambridge, now ends with a winner-takes-all, promotion-or-bust, League Two promotion battle royale at Wembley.

Can Coventry seal an instant return to the third tier, as well as a first promotion since 1967? Or are Exeter going to add some more south west pizzazz to League One next season?

Kick-off is coming in about an hour and I cannot wait.
