Forget the battle of the haircuts, Archie and Carlos are more interested in the tops they're wearing.

That "goal" by Scotland's Gemmill against the powerful Dutch in 1978 is no doubt still recreated by many a Scotland fan from Melrose to Thurso. And how many will be wearing the Umbro classic while doing so?

But that hue of blue is up against the glorious 1990 Colombian away kit. Who can forget Carlos Valderrama, Rene Higuita, Freddy Rincon and the rest lighting up Italy with their bright colours and brighter football.

Did you know that Mexico's 1978 kit was designed by Levis - oh yes! I wonder if it came with green denim pants?

That shirt has been pitted against Italy's 1990 outfit, as worn in the photo by the competition's Golden Boot winner Salvatore "Toto" Schillaci.

According to Wikipedia, the former Azzurri striker appeared in Craig Doyle Live during Euro 2012 - which must have been nice for him.

    Ahh 1990!

World In Motion, Poll Tax, Gazza's tears, Partners In Kryme's classic Turtle Power - it had it all.

It also had two classic kits on show. Who can forget Cameroon in their iconic number lighting up the competition, with victory against Argentina, Roger Milla's wiggle and giving England a run for their money.

Then there was Jurgen Klinsmann, Rudi Voller (has he removed that spit from his hair?), Lothar Matthaus et al in the last West Germany kit. They went on to win the title that year - as if you didn't know.

The two memorable shirts face off in the first round - who will win? You decide from 09:00 BST.

Only 60% of Brazilians interviewed in a survey by Nielsen Sports said they were interested in football. Pardon?!!

The United Arab Emirates (80%) came top of the table, followed by Thailand (78%) and Chile, Portugal and Turkey (all 75%) - five-time world champions Brazil were 13th.
